I support learning about and appreciating ancient wisdom. But devotion to irrational beliefs that you allow to rule your life, that were written 1500-2000+ years ago (e.g. Judeo-Christian Bible, aka Goat Herders Guide to the Galaxy, or the Koran) is manifestly unhealthy for society.

I was born with the capacity for rational thought. I was raised in a Christian/Catholic home, school and community. In my teens I thought about it myself and saw religion as flawed thinking. That is when I became a born-again atheist. That freedom feels great!

The institutionalized abuse of children in teaching them this religious belief still shocks me after decades. Unquestioned, uncritical belief in a collection of writings from thousands of years ago that causes a parent to inculcate those beliefs in their own children is, to me, indefensible.

🤣 But, too kind to refer to the Abrahamic god as merely a knucklehead. That mythical god has wreaked, through billions of humans who carry his water, so much savagery & pain on "non-believers".

But worse is the degradation such belief causes to the promotion of rational thinking as beneficial.

At almost 72, & as a student of politics & culture since the 60's, I always felt revulsion for the characters portrayed in these & other anti-war songs, books (1984 anybody?) & movies.

But I find that the real thing, as embodied by Trump, Hegseth, Rubio, & spineless legislators, is far, far worse.
