I’m the guest on Episode 4 of The Tower cinema podcast, discussing The Matrix (1999) as a film that profoundly shifted my worldview, creating a β€˜tower moment’ comparable to the tarot understanding of the term.

Today is the official publication day of my first book, Psychoanalysing Horror Cinema (Routledge). I perceive this volume to be very similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa: imperfect, different, strangely surreal with little glimmers of magic, & perhaps even memorable. I hope readers connect with it.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a surreal structure with a uniquely imposing aura. Pisa is rendered dreamlike because of this Tower. The conventional quality of the nearby buildings only enhances the magical features of being askew & imperfect. If this Tower were not Leaning, nobody would remember it.
