has it really gotten that much better? i've been a curmudgeon about vibe coding for the past year after i tried using chatgpt for a project only to waste an entire afternoon hunting down a bug that it didn't know it introduced. there's just something about having to *trust* what it writes, idk

he's of course right in a trivial sense that politics is ultimately about power... but it turns out that legitimacy is a big part of power, because it's actually impossible to govern by force alone for very long. force doesn't count for much if by exercising it you turn everybody into your enemy!

feels like the whole world is going to keel over and do nothing as the US invades venezuela and cuba and annexes greenland. MAGA will be so emboldened by their anschluss of the western hemisphere that they'll start a real war they can't win in a week, and then they'll get us all killed

no ads. clean, intuitive interface. and it never forces me to use AI! i guess when your customers are corporations, it actually matters if your product works

literally the only app on my phone that works the way i want it to is the one for my company credit card. which pretty much sums up the current state of the tech industry

lmao incredible, definitely adding this one to the reading list

I'm enjoying this app but I popped over on twitter and the discourse is olfactory ethics, insurance exec assassination memes, and doordash gender wars. Sad to say it but the truth is you still can't get that anywhere else

broke: not using chatgpt because it's inauthentic

woke: not using spellcheck because it's inauthentic

It's pretty incredible that adderall is also a decongestant. I can focus AND breath through my nose? Amazing

this is because you are using the mean, you should use the mode for more accurate picture

The most mysterious part of the rightwing grievance machine is how everyone convinces themselves that Trump is talking about someone else. Not even Republican strategists understand it

It’s cuz the business press is full of credulous dweebs

a side effect of "you are the product not the consumer" is that big tech companies eventually lose institutional knowledge about how to attract users. google is the same way right now: search gets worse and worse, but they don't seem to care, because their market position is so strong

Wild how many mid-2000s TV jokes boil down to β€œget this: tiger woods is black AND asian”

whole foods brand? you have officially been declared an enemy of the state

Worried the vibes over here are like cheerful and feel-good. Hope some trash fire and certified haters are also in the mix

that guy is just a troll. all his headlines are clickbait

I can confirm that if you get stoned enough it actually feels like you're on old twitter

a functioning bureaucracy would be anti-american, which is one of many reasons it is good to be anti-american

we're building a decentralized, peer-to-peer marketplace for my haters

and fwiw picking chaos is a strategic choice when you have no allies and your adversary acts with impunity. if you can't bargain, you may as well try to upset the existing coalitions and pray they break apart favorably. it's grim and may not work, but it's not like they have illusions about trump

14.11.2024 19:19 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

guys i just thought of something: what if trump is like napoleon iii. has anyone else thought of that comparison yet, might be something there

The most annoying part of liberals always blaming the left is that I have voted democrat in literally every election of my adult life. I am nancy pelosi's strongest soldier and somehow democrats losing is my problem

Finally read some Nabokov (Lolita) for the first time. Much zanier than i expected, you can really feel his influence on Pynchon

To me the important thing is that block actually has different functionality. It actually works differently than twitter. That's useful for twitter expats to know but with millions of new users it's inevitable that the site culture will change and new subcultures will pop up

13.11.2024 21:08 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

this is unironically the best strategy. everyone is running around screaming "how do we appeal to young men," but you know what is easier than making left wing ben shapiro? letting trump ruin their lives and swooping in 4 years later to magnanimously lower consumer prices
