Lovely to see so many of my friends joining this platform. The value of a social platform is the people who use it and the interactions they have. Some people are learning that lesson the hard way.

Etymology of the day: to be ‘blowing a hoolie’ (or ‘hooley’) was probably inspired by the Orkney word ‘hoolan’, a howling gale, with a touch of the ‘hooley’ that is a very noisy party thrown in.

If you’re overwhelmed with despair and can afford it, give money to the causes you care about, and switch off the news. Your money will do more good than obsessing over every twist and turn of politics, and people whose job it is to monitor and respond will know how to spend it and thank you for it.

As someone who works in comms, I tend to have a slightly different interest in watching the shift from Twitter to Bluesky than other people. One particularly interesting aspect is the focus on followers over engagement which some people seem to have. 1/
