The woman replies that he sees it that way because physicists have failed. She continues by saying biology is what physics would be like if physicists had found a grand unified theory. Right now, they have multiple non-overlapping ideas that produce physical and mathematical absurdities. Biologists on the other hand, have the theory of evolution by natural selection. She adds in the 4th panel "having long since discovered the mechanism behind everything, we are left to search for the particular ways it plays out, in order to find connections and surprises that refine our understanding."

Part 2/2 of a 7-panel SMBC comic update. The man retorts that "our science is harder because it's more fundamental," leading the woman to answer that physics is all about the behavior of stuff, and biology is governed by and abstract mechanism, punctuating with a "suck on that!" The man then decided to prove her wrong, probably with matrices and Greek letters. The woman replies with "good luck! You'll catch up some time, buddy."
