I know this is impossible for us discuss in this current moment but... People want to do interesting, thoughtful, creative, day to day work. They want to care for each other, and feel like they are contributing to something bigger.

It should be where we start when we think about our communities.

22 years ago, or 202 years ago, hard to say other than the fact that there is video. Absolutely beautiful.

I freaked out this morning, out loud over my kitchen sink, β€œI’m so busy I can’t get anything done!”

I remember reading accounts of girls who gushing over plans to have their purity rings, from their fathers, melted down and combined with new material, from their husbands, to make their wedding rings when they were handed over from one man to the other. Few things sum up patriarchy quite so neatly.

A black and white ceramic mug is halfway filled with a foamy chai latte, held in front of an espresso machine on a kitchen counter.

A locally-made-chai latte for me, and coffee friends from Indonesia brought to us yesterday for my husband. We’re blaming our fast drinking and quick refills on the time change, but it was every bit as bad last week.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Ah, but I would argue Disney has already made the case that love is action, *not* emotion. See Olaf’s speech to Anna in Frozen, and his conclusion that β€œsome people are worth melting for.”

Every young newlywed couple I ever knew who told me they were doing β€œnatural family planning” or β€œcycle tracking” to hold off on having children for a few years were pregnant by their first anniversary.

IMO, research is political not because of the findings we unearth, but because of the way we arrive at those findings.

Surveying white people and hoping it will explain what happens with non-white people will never make sense to me.

There’s a gulf between choosing to be intentionally uninformed about the state of the world and choosing to be judicious in consuming traumatic details given the state of the world. The first stems from & leads to apathy. The second does not.

Trump’s War on Iran Could Screw Over US Farmers The Middle East supplies a huge amount of the world’s fertilizer. Conflict in the region has sent prices soaring ahead of the critical spring planting season.

there's a lot going on right now but did you know a massive amount of the world's fertilizer flows through the middle east, and did you know that that fertilizer needs to be shipped to the us *right now* for planting season, and uh did you know we are at war with iran

I’ve been notified about another death in ICE custody.

This marks a stunning 40 deaths during the second Trump administration.

This cannot continue. There must be real accountability for ICE and DHS.

Americans Stranded in the Middle East Aren’t Getting Help from the State Department β€œPlease do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation,” a State department hotline said when NOTUS called Tuesday afternoon.

NEWS: Americans were told to evacuate the Middle East β€” but the State Dept is not helping them do it.

We called the State hotline. First thing you hear is an automated message: "Do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation."

I was talking about this with my 8yo, who seemingly understands better than the CEO. It’s not just that they’ve caved quickly, it’s that each time it’s shown a betrayal of the values they’d made their brand identity - which shows they have no values at all. Better to not pretend in the first place!

had a death in the family and was almost completely off the internet for a few days & my observation is that there is too much happening too fast such that basic facts abt the world are difficult to ascertain unless you are mainlining info all the time & doing that seems to drive people insane

This is where I’ve landed, as someone who at 12 accepted Calvinism when it was first presented to me as the only logical theology if you take the Bible seriously.

Now my 8yo’s understanding of Calvinism is pretty much like how she understands any other religion: some people believe this. The end.

Jesus’s statement β€œWhoever is not with me is against me” (Matthew 12:30, Luke 11:23) is incredibly useful for authoritarian Christians in vilifying anyone who disagrees with their interpretation of Christianity, and naturally, their preferred politics.

27.02.2026 23:18 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

This is it. This is a terrifyingly standard idea in many evangelical churches. Anyone who isn’t in lockstep with β€œus”/God is against us/God, so anyone who differs politically or religiously is working in league with or being guided by the actual devil.

Same exact reason why most Christian media doesn’t crossover into being real art.
