The contribution of viral toxins to infection and pathogenesis | mBio
Viral pathogenesis is a complex process involving both the virus and the host. Tissue
damage caused during viral infection can result from the virus and/or the host immune
response. A prerequisite for...
Excited to share our new review article published today in @mbio.bsky.social discussing the role of viral toxins in viral pathogenesis and dissemination. We summarize our recent work and current literature on flavivirus NS1, SARS-CoV-2 Spike, CCHFV GP38, and EBOV GP. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/...

Dear network, Iβm pleased to announce the launch of hashtag#DeZi (Dengue and Zika Immunology and Genomics Multi-Country Network) β a global collaboration that Iβm part of, bringing together leading teams across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to advance our understanding of dengue and Zika viruses.
π¬ DeZi in brief:
DeZi is a global initiative led by Imperial College London and Nuno R. Faria and supported by the Wellcome Trust, Temasek Foundation and the National Environment Agency.
It integrates genomics, serology, and modelling to map the burden, transmission, and evolution of dengue and Zika viruses.
By combining innovation with equitable partnerships, DeZi aims to:
β’ accelerate the adoption of improved diagnostics
β’ strengthen regional laboratory capacity and SouthβSouth collaborations
β’ enhance preparedness for future arboviral epidemics in a changing climate
With its open-access resources and policy engagement activities DeZi will help countries integrate the surveillance of dengue, Zika, and other mosquito-borne viruses into routine national health systems, turning collaboration into capacity, and data into effective policymaking.
π Partners span research institutions and public-health laboratories in more than 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, working closely with UKHSA, Yale University, WHO, and networks such as UNITEDengue, CREID, and ARTIC2.0.
Iβm pleased to announce the launch of #DeZi ! a global collaboration funded by @wellcometrust.bsky.social and led by @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social that brings together teams across Africa, Asia & the Americas to advance our understanding of #dengue & #Zika viruses
