One of the hand-moulds at the #norwichprintingmuseum. This is a French-style mould, made of steel with a brass "hopper mouth", probably made around 1800 for hand-casting type in the brevier size (roughly 8-point).

Love our collection of printing machinery, type and bindery equipment! π We are currently closed to the public, but do get in touch if you would like to see anything from the collections, or arrange a workshop or lecture.

A wood-engraving of around 1873, showing a family printing with the Jabez Francis "parlour press". Only three original examples of this press are known to survive (two of them are at the Norwich Printing Museum).

A triumphant appearance at the Norwich Independent Book and Zine Fair last week. Many keepsakes were printed, new friends were made, and even a few zines created ... Thanks to Gill Renouf, Florence Okoye and Paul W. Nash (@PrOGPaul) for manning the stall.

Work in progress from our Artist in Residence, Connie Flynn. Connie is working toward a social-history-inspired exhibition (and, we hope, a talk at the Museum) combining text and textiles ... You can also see her work in the exhibition "Making the Rounds".

Artist in Residence, Connie Flynn said, she had so much to consider at NPM on Friday β the type style and size, scale, spacing, paper, colour of ink β too many options. And then SO many ideas that develop from each process. A real learning curve! The exhibition plan is coming together nicely.
Another productive day for our Artist in Residence, Connie Flynn. If you are in London you can see her textile work in the βMaking the Roundsβ exhibition which is touring, currently at the Royal College of Nursing ...

Some early flowers from our Artist in Residence, Connie Flynne, who began to work with our type and presses on Friday. Her work will continue each Friday for the next five weeks.
One of the smallest donations to the Museum recently was an example of the text of the Lord's Prayer cast upon a single 12-point (pica) piece of type. You might not be able to see it ... But it is there. It was produced as a promotional curiosity by the Monotype Corporation.

One of the smallest presses at the #norwichprintingmuseum is the Adana "Hand Quarto", seen here at last year's Print Party in Norwich. We have two of the presses at the Museum, and an example of an early model, mostly made of wood (possibly by Donald Aspinall, the founder of Adana, himself) ...
