I lied. I'm out stroking random people's pet cats today. The leaflets are secondary.

Local elections are going ahead as planned here in Worcestershire, despite a Tory attempt to hijack devolution to cancel the election and hang onto power that bit longer. Time to get cracking! π

It's time to talk youth services in Warndon.
Without a decent youth club and youth workers to meet our kids in the middle, I think it is foolish to expect to take them directly off the straight to plug them straight into skills training with no intermediate steps.
We owe them better than that. π€
Another week of fantastic food and friendship for the community down here at Warndon's famous Open Door CafΓ©!
Concerned about the rise of radical right politics? Do something about it. π€
Just by taking up your space in the conversation, as a local community activist, you will help displace the regressive voices that have been shouting you down online. π«
More ideas within!
A group of local volunteers wearing high vis orange jackets stands with a pile of rubbish collected on a neighbourhood litterpick. They brandish litterpickers and hoops triumphantly
A group of litterpickers, including several children, stand triumphantly next to the heap of rubbish they collected that morning.
They said it couldn't be done - they said Warndon was a down-and-out council estate where nothing good could ever happen. And we proved them wrong.
Well done and THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers on not one, but TWO community litterpicks today. You are the pride of Warndon. π€
Five Labour activists (including Tom Collins MP) stand on the street corner at the top of Church Road in Worcester
A chilly but refreshing doorknock! Our MP is out and about talking to local people in his old Council ward of Rainbow Hill today! π€
A friend asked me about our policy on potholes. I said I didn't have any answers for him right now, but I'd do my homework, and then I'd fill him in. π§π·ββοΈ
Local government is doing strange things to my sense of humour. π
Flyer for litterpick, titled "Calling all friends of Saddler's Walk", pictured against leaf litter on the pavement.
Nathan, Ed and Jill show off flyers for litterpick, next to a street sign for Saddler's Walk
Really excited to see our first community litterpicks of 2025 are about to get off the ground!
It's taken a bit of strategising and prep work to make this happen, and we are very grateful for the support we've had from Worcester City Council's community engagement team. π€
The Renters' Right Bill will: We will limit the amount or rent that a landlord can request at the start of a tenancy to a maximum of one month.
Labour's Rentersβ Rights Bill will fix the broken rental system and deliver protections for 11 million private tenants.
This welcome bill will stop landlords demanding multiple monthsβ rent in advance as a condition for securing a home.

Reflections after an afternoon street stallin' with the Labour party in the beautiful city centre of Hereford, next to a bronze bull sporting a concerning degree of anatomical correctness... π
The Open Door CafΓ© project is the pride of Warndon, and a very welcome refuge from the cold this winter!!
BREAKING: Worcester residents puzzled by sight of a clownish local councillor taking pictures near an overflowing bin, before reporting it via the link below:
www.worcester.gov.uk/report-it
An eyewitness described the scene as "Horrifying. The bin was looking pretty rank too."
Hey Worcester, it's horrendously cold out there. π₯Ά

I routinely get a different version of this scam where someone texts "mom" or "dad" pretending to be a lost child. It's kind of nightmarish to think that someone, somewhere consciously decided to use this as a strategy to get data or money out of caring people.
Huge thanks must go to performers Olga HlouΕ‘kovΓ‘ and Charlotte Hasnip (pictured) as well as director Owen Harper, for bringing the timeless tale of Hansel and Gretel to life for the little people of Warndon!
Wherever and whoever you are, however you plan to spend this New Year's Eve, I wish you a peaceful, kind and prosperous 2025! π€
Some well deserved recognition for a great community effort! So proud to have played a small but meaningful part in making this happen.
And hats off to local man Jason, who went the extra mile (literally!) to raise the funds that paid for the trip!

1) every incumbent around the world is going backwards, owing to a toxic loss of trust in institutions and democracy
2) people have seen a decline in their living standards worldwide since the 2008 recession (or a loss of growth in those standards). Dems have little or nothing to say about that.

We brought some much-needed Christmas cheer to Tolladine this year!
Carollers joined us from St Barnabas Church, Hope Church and Friends of Tolladine! And we even got Tom Collins MP to join in as well! π
Merry Christmas Tolladine! π€
The war against our young people is self-defeating.
That's why I argued yesterday at our city council that we should consult with the same young people that we pick up for antisocial behaviour, to hear their needs and wishes for our city. Maybe give them something better to do? π

Thank you to Worcester Wheels for helping arrange transport for our residents to get to see Aladdin at the Swan Theatre this afternoon!
Whoever said that decency and kindness were dead? They're alive and well in Warndon today! π€
This is undoubtedly the best part of my job. Merry Christmas, Warndon. π€
A photo that tells a story about what local politics is really like: in this photo you see a Labour, a Lib Dem and a Green Councillor, as part of one choir.
It's not about the bickering and the pointless arguments. Politics is about the 90% we all agree on.

First post from me!
As a Cllr here in Worcester, I've seen how bullying and abuse online is being used as a tool of control, to squash the voices of the young, the meek and the vulnerable.
But you know what bullies fear most? When we reach out and support one another. Let's do more of that. π€
