Cape Horn Lookout, Washougal, Washington
This pullout area along Highway 14 is part of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. That big rock in the water is named Phoca Rock, said to be named after the genus Phoca, for the seals the European explorers found there.

Weather map showing wind patterns on Tuesday, November 19, at 5:00 pm from earth.nullschool.net. A swirling low-pressure system off the Pacific Northwest coast is depicted with green-to-red wind streamlines around a central vortex. An arrow points to the Camas-Washougal area.

Sepia-toned photo of a Fort Clatsop log cabin replica in Oregon’s Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, surrounded by dense forest. The rustic log structure features a wooden gate and gravel path. Photo taken by Pierre Toutain-Dorbec in 2013 with a Graflex 4x5” camera, platinum print (Na2 Bostick & Sullivan).

I recall a 1973 Camas High School field trip here, counting single-driver cars and discussing urban planning. Later, we visited downtown Portland, where some smokers snuck away.
