It only gets creepy when you start talking to your characters out loud… in public… arguing how to get her to see your point. Priceless faces all around. I would know… My friends asked me if I need a nice long stay in an asylum. 😅
“Are you done yet?” My friends constantly ask, usually followed by “When will it launch in German?” And I so: Boah, I’m not even done with the last editing pass or have figured out marketing. When the f*ck would I have time to translate it? I have a day job and a family, too, damnit! 😅

That’s hard. I think my dad knew it was coming. He died on January 31st last year. An ordinary day. All major events over or way before us. I think he waited. Doesn’t make it easier.

They really are. Most of the time, I can think of him without crying, but at his birthday and the day he found peace? Hard days.
I’m so bad at posting regularly. I sink into my writing and forget the world around me. It’s my form of escapism. Dad’s birthday is approaching tomorrow and I try not to think about it. He died last year after long sickness, and I miss him. I’ll see which of my characters will be sad today. #booksky
Correcting an outline you set up five months ago isn’t that easy when your characters have their own mind and changed the plot mid-book two. Why did I choose to write an interconnected series again?

I don’t think there is anything wrong with telling a fellow author that I love their work. I would be delighted, too, if someone reached out one day and told me this. I love contacting authors I like, and it’s a joy if they answer.

The pressure to publish more and faster was one of the most frustrating things about working in publishing. If I could say ONE thing to the publishing industry about how to make things better, it would be this: do not publish anything you are not going to support well with marketing.
I need a break after that last chapter of Where Darkness Blooms.

And like, I just finished a book based on the Hellraiser world about demons, but this YA horror fantasy, with fucking sentient sunflowers, is getting “require a cigarette break” dark.
