Petition: Stop the Guga Hunt
Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to amend Section 16 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to remove the power to grant licences for taking Gannets on Sula Sgeir.
Please help to end the senseless harvesting of Gannets. It’s a ‘tradition’ that needs stopping.
Please sign the petition which is already over 80,000 and I’m told the highest signed petition ever for a Scottish Parliament petition.

At least 14 colour-ringed Turnstone (7 in piccy) off Hunstanton prom at lunchtime. Some old friends but I think one or two may be new (to me at least) @washwader.bsky.social #ukbirding #norfolkbirding

Seen around 17 times over the last 8 years, virtually all 9L's sightings are from NWNorfolk.
Seen last week, one of this 8 year old curlew's favourite haunts is up by the lighthouse at Hunstanton. Information kindly provided by @washwader.bsky.social #norfolkbirding

A second seawatch in the afternoon was quiet until late on, when 2 Arctic skua 15 kittiwake 2 little gull 4 Med gulls put in an appearance. Highlight though was undoubtedly these gulls as the sun was setting behind them. #UKbirding #Norfolkbirding

A five layer three hat morning at Hunstanton today. Highlights several GN and RTDivers, several bunches of Eider but no 'feathered' pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! #UKbirding #norfolkbirding

Short eared owl having just made landfall then decided to take a look at Hunstanton centre!
After storm Claudia yesterday I was hoping The Wash would be full of sheltering seabirds! It wasn’t to be but was content with a SEOwl and a Woodcock both in/off by the Hunstanton pier family building. 😊 (massive crops in dismal light)

Yes I posted on the forum back in April (colour scheme) but got no response. I have also raised a 'trouble ticket' more recently on a different matter but got no reply. PUC has massive potential but for me (and so many birders) falls far short of this potential.

Can’t understand why #BWPUC sonograms are in the purple/black colour scheme. Too often I can’t see a thing! Here’s a before/after. Took 20 seconds in the app on my phone!

Spent most of today along Titchwell's trails looking for the biggy! Sadly it wasn't to be but really enjoyed 'the hunt' anyway! One of today's 4 firecrests below. #ukbirding

Nice sea watch today from Hunstanton. Hard work at times in challenging conditions but great company! Most exciting moment was when a group of 5 Arctic & 2 Long-tailed skuas appeared from the east over Hunstanton and then flew directly out to sea! #ukbirding

After the Peregrine vs LTSkua battle I went home, made a coffee and settled down to see if a heavy shower had dropped anything into the back garden. Bingo! First garden record of Redstart! #ukbirding

2/2 Though the LTS had a noticeably smaller wingspan, it completely out-manouvered the Peregrine during the chase, not surprising considering the Peg was probably at least 3 times heavier! The Peg tried to reclaim it’s breakfast from the surface, eventually giving up! 1-0 to the LTS!

1/2 This am seawatch highlight was a Peregrine hunting a wader 500m out, it takes the prey but from nowhere a Long-tailed skua appears and pursues the Peregrine! LTS forces the Peregrine to drop the prey but instead of claiming its prize the LTS just continues nonchalantly on it's way! #ukbirding

Hobby
Osprey
Titchwell Marsh RSPB still busy with waders today. 22 species when I left with quite a few commoner species missing from that total. From the beach: 2 summer RTDiver, 2 common buzzards in/off and osprey. Hobby over Volunteer Marsh. 😀
