As a born and raised German, this really has more than an air of building a system of concentration centres across the US. And, like in Germany in the 1930s, a sizeable portion of the population actually thinks this is the way to go. Sickening.

As a long time member: thank you for opposing a politically motivated, anti-scientific decision.

Excellent! Thank you for making some things become clearer, Stuart.

I knew I could rely on you to share yet another eminently useable map! DankeschΓΆn!

Watching Ben Shapiro attacking Nick Fuentes must count amongst the most un-self-conscious acts of attempting to exonerate one's own culpability ever attempted.

Brent, is there a catalogue accompanying the exhibition? Thanks!

Comparing Liev Schreiber and Elon Musk's engagement with their own trans child makes me wonder why anyone could consider the latter someone to look up to.

The obvious gendering apart, perhaps there's something to be said for the selective democratic election process that just unfolded in the Vatican. Members of an organisation coming together to elect one of theirs to provide leadership. Universities did that in bygone days...

Someone explain to me why 'the masses' are willing to swallow a lot of painful economic bs that negatively affects them in their pockets but are unwilling to accept even a modicum of habit-adjusting change when it comes to saving the planet?

Congrats, Sarah. Even if, looking from the outside in, welcome news like this increasingly appears to come from a different planet. All the more reason to celebrate!

The older I get, the less I am able to master the art of "understanding them". I read, am capable of empathy, know my German history shit and still -- self-interest alone, especially of the economic kind, should keep people from supporting the vile cohort. But it doesn't and I am none the wiser.

Iβ€˜ve been wondering about this myself β€” on the back of few, if any, in geography commenting on her actions. Ffs, if nominally progressive academics can force through such neoliberal bs, let’s at least call a spade... a spade.

Did Trump voters mean to stop cancer research? Of course not. But they did - at least temporarily. Did voters of the NSdAP mean to exterminate ’the Jews’? Of course not. But they did. Consider the consequences of who and what party you vote for.

Why are people who proclaim to be dissatisfied with the world they live in voting for people with no expertise, no desire to improve matters and no love for neither their fellow human beings nor the planet we inhabit? Beats me.

Nothing thematic β€” we know what’s required. Post about decision-making: how to get car-dependent people on board of the decarbonisation process.

It depends, Antonio. Does your town have power over its resources? Can it make decisions without deferring to a higher authority? Are its citizens part of the decision-making process? All of this matters…

Interessant, daß auch die deutschen Γ–R Fernsehanstalten dem Vorbild BBC nacheifern. Was im UK die Normalisierung des Herrn Farage war, scheint in D mit Frau W Γ€hnlich abzulaufen. Warum nur? QuotenabhΓ€ngigkeit?

Mmh. Which is their legitimate choice β€” and one I respect. But it should not nullify the fact that something, rather than nothing, is being offered.

I know. But at least Germany offers, as part of a β€˜reconciliation agreement’, a not inconsiderable amount of € to Namibia.
