It's finally out! #EconSky I'm pretty happy with this paper. Plus, Sarah Drain (WVU, RAND), who is a great co-author and #EconJMC, is also working on the follow-up paper.

I'm happy to share that my joint article "The effect of Certificate-of-Need laws on substance use disorder care for vulnerable populations" in SEJ with Alicia Plemmons and Sarah Drain is now published on the journal website! #EconSky #certificateofneed

The article is open access for the next ~50ish days. Special thanks to the folks who supported and cheered me on, and to the folks who provided comments before I sent the paper out to journals.
My paper identifying the women in economics cited in the Nobel prize lectures in economics from 1969-2009 is now available at the European Journal of Political Economy. I identified 163 unique women & 198 unique cited works. #economics #womeninecon

I am grieved by the endless pattern of war.

Folks who are outside of California: Please call your representatives in Congress and demand a stop to the use of the National Guard and also the deliberately inflammatory ICE attacks in California. Now is the time.
Thanks, @theihs.org ! The study is actually by Alicia Plemmons (not yet on Bluesky) and me, but Liam and I wrote the op-ed about it. We are all at the @kneecenter.bsky.social if folks want to check out more of our research!
I'm having a very normal day saving copies of the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence so I can pull them out on a regular basis. Last week it was about pulling archived data, this week it's about founding documents.
The Council of Professional Associations on Federal Statistics, a great org, asks individuals & orgs to sign their letter requesting Congress act to restore data that has been removed & ensure a similar purge does not reoccur.

Updates on US Census Data as of February 5:
According to the Census Bureau, all files on the public FTP server have been made publicly unavailable to comply with the President's executive orders.
They say they'll work to restore the files after they are reviewed and approved.
The important thing is the idea makes it to the world, and it frees up your time, actually, for other important ideas that nobody else is working on yet.

Congratulations!!! π You're off to do awesome things!
Thank you!
I feel like my RePEc author profile/list of pubs is hopelessly out-of-date and I'm not sure how to get it to reflect the 8 pubs it's missing (in real journals like SEJ!). Is there a way to suggest papers to RePEc that EconPapers and IDEAS haven't indexed? #EconSky
You can check the paper out here: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
Two pictures of Darwyyn Deyo presenting. The left picture describes the NPI data in the paper. The right picture presents the map of treatment dates.
In a very busy weekend, I also had the opportunity to present my WP (with Alicia Plemmons and Sriparna Ghosh) on how the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact impacted physician practice growth at the Council of State Governments National Conference! #occupationallicensing #healtheconomics #EconSky
Oof, even when they're good I find this to be stressful!
Are you working on a paper related to healthcare provider scope of practice laws?
@omfleming.bsky.social and I are looking for another paper for the session we are organizing for #ASHEcon2025
We at the The Knee Center are continuing to work on more research in this space and would love to connect with other folks working on criminal justice reforms and studies.
We find that after Illinois reformed its law in 2017, employment increased in licensed occupations while crime fell, indicating that both households and communities benefited from more opportunities for employment in the formal labor market.
I am very excited to share that my paper with Alicia Plemmons on Illinois' criminal records reforms for occupational licensing is now available in Economics Letters! #EconSky #occupationallicensing
Congratulations! π
ICYMI -- RePEc just enabled economists to associate their Bluesky account with their profile.
I deleted my X account association & added Bluesky.
