For instance a windturbine obv doesn’t resist the grid as much as a poweplant grade generator-turbine combo with a rotating masses in the hundreds of tons

Yeah, it doesn’t work that way.

Picture this: the frequency of the grid is stabilized by the rotating masses of conventional power plans.
So if the frquency slows down/speeds up, a turbosets mass is dampening the influence of that.

Idk if thats easy to understand or not.

the only real problem I have with this is: what stabilises the grid? never mentioned anything - only renewables won't cut it unless you use conventional methods of producing electicity
