Congrats David!! Excited to see whatβs to come!
Here, through whole animal scRNA-seq, neuropeptidomics, and genetic screens awesome post-doc, Carrie Sheeler, answers those questions! Thank you collaborators @jennifergarrison.bsky.social 's lab and Kenyon lab!
Excited to share another pre-print from our lab! We found a neuropeptide that can cell non-autonomously activate the ER-UPR and protect animals from proteotoxic stress.
www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
I previously found that subtype of four astrocyte-like regulate organismal ER stress resistance and longevity.
science.org/doi/10.1126/...
However, the signal and full extent of the cell non-autonomous response remained unknown.
Β· Mice with maternally inherited hGFAP-creERT2 exhibited no Cre-mediated recombination
Β· Recombination was robust in mice with paternally inherited hGFAP-creERT2
Β· Inheritance effect is NOT transgenerational
Β· Suppression of recombination was observed independent of colony.
GFAP-CreERT2 mice. Maternal inheritance suppresses transgene recombination efficiency in astrocytes.
A PSA for #astrocyte aficionados working with GFAP-CreERT2 mice from @jacksonlab.bsky.social (#012849)
Happy to share a recent pre-print from our lab!
Parental origin of transgene determines recombination efficiency in GFAP-CreERT2 mice

Congrats to Karmen Mah and Adam Roszczyk who figured out this initially puzzling observation! π₯³
