It's a shame it's a nice space. I keep hoping as it's really not that far away from us.

Joking aside, the year is 1996 and the newly formed City of Edinburgh Council and its arms-length development corporation - EDI - are unveiling a masterplan for Princes Street. The year is 2026, EDI may be long gone but the council is still unveiling masterplans for Princes Street ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I keep getting postings from Lincoln's Inn which I am sure would be lovely but probably an impractical commute from Edinburgh.
Further coverage of community efforts to save the historic Linton Kirk in the Scottish Borders, famous for its spectacular carved medieval tympanum featuring the "Linton Worm".

I am beginning my least favourite part of preparing a book. Images ( I have searched all the free sites ) , relevant Scottish images are pretty difficult and generally expensive.
That was a very enjoyable episode.
Also Scotland is completely different but there are no grammar schools in Scotland or Wales for that matter.
NI keeps trying to reform its system.
Research suggests that gifted kids will tend to succeed regardless and kids who only just made it may do less well than they might have elsewhere.
Why are they controversial? Really selective schools tend to dominate the league tables ( advocates for grammar schools never think it's their children that might not get in see also too many people at university).
Today, grammar school should refer to one of the 163 remaining fully selective state-funded schools in England and the 69 remaining in Northern Ireland
More recently, a number of state grammar schools, still retaining their selective intake, gained academy status are thus independent of the LEA Some LEAs retain forms of the Tripartite System and a few grammar schools survive in otherwise comprehensive areas.
Or merged with the secondary modern and became a comprehensive school often keeping the name.
They became part of the system that had secondary moderns ( in some LEAs) technical high school and grammar schools.
When comprehensive schools were introduced in the 1970s in most LEAs in England the grammar school either became a private school ( like Keir Starmer's school)
Originally a school to teach Latin ( hence the grammar) and why pretty much any English town of any size would have one to teach the boys . Obviously over time the curriculum expanded. In the 1940s in England, Wales & NI ( Scotland is different).
Oh amazing. Thank you so much
