I would be satisfied with a coalition government in Ontario where Erskine-Smith or Stiles is the Premier (I am ideologically closer to the ONDP so I would prefer Marit Stiles as Premier, but Erskine-Smith would make a good Premier too), and where the Erskine-Smith, Stiles & Schreiner work together

Trump has a track record of looking for reasons to slap tariffs on other countries. It doesn’t take much, any excuse can become justification for economic pressure, regardless of the broader context.

That pattern is exactly why his stated reasoning shouldn’t be treated as serious or principled.

Poilievre loves to use this format when he comes up with slogans 😂

Under my leadership, the next time the NDP holds the balance of power in parliament, we’ll have one demand: proportional representation.

Sous ma direction, la prochaine fois que le NPD détiendra la balance du pouvoir au Parlement, nous n'aurons qu'une exigence : la représentation proportionnelle.

By listening to all of the times he has insulted other politicians (such as Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh), used divisive language, etc.

However, while his standing within the party is robust, the broader challenge for Poilievre lies in his appeal to the Canadian electorate as a whole, with Carney consistently outperforming him in “preferred PM” polling, which shows a gap between party loyalty and general voter favourability. (2/2)

I believe Poilievre is likely to do very well in his upcoming leadership review, possibly getting an approval rate in the 80%–90% range, reflecting his strong support and popularity among Conservative Party of Canada members. (1/2)

The budget vote is set for tonight at 6:45 PM.

NDP interim leader Don Davies hasn’t yet indicated how his party’s MPs will vote. If a sufficient number of them vote against the budget and it fails to pass, a snap election would be triggered.

How do you expect the NDP MPs to vote?

🚨 Let’s be clear: Pierre Poilievre wants to WASTE your hard-earned taxpayer dollars on foreign aid to Israel (as they are committing a genocide in Gaza and have illegal settlements in the West Bank), and on projects that hurt the environment in the middle of a climate crisis

🚨 BC Greens leader Emily Lowan wants British Columbia to adopt a Proportional Representation system with regional ridings where MLAs would be elected based on % of support their party receives in their regional riding 🗳️

What are your thoughts on this idea?

Mark Carney isn’t “rewarding Hamas” by recognizing the state of Palestine, he is rewarding the millions of innocent Palestinians who are dealing with an illegal occupation and genocide by the Israeli government and who simply want peace, freedom & self-determination

Most voters also say that single-member districts are unfair to the minority party in deep red/blue states. We asked if voters would support a system that allocated House seats by party proportional to the share of the vote they win statewide, and 46% said yes (27% no).

Act now to expand the parliament There’s been a lot of talk about expanding the size of Australia’s federal parliament in the last few years. Some of us have been talking about this for a lot longer, but it has seemed …

The federal government has again raised the prospect of expanding the parliament. In today's post I take a look at how long redistributions take, and how they take longer now than they did in 1984, so if they want to move on parliamentary expansion they need to do it asap.

The NDP needs to pressure the Carney government to implement a Proportional Representation system for the next federal election (which can include a ranked ballot too, such as Jenkins-Baaj MMP or the Single Transferable Vote)

Then he’ll likely cry that they’re splitting the vote lol

If Tom Suozzi wants the USA to have a multi-party system, he should support the Fair Representation Act (which would implement STV) & advocate for Proportional Representation

The fossil fuel lobby doesn’t just influence politics, it recruits it. MPs and senior advisers leave Parliament and walk straight into oil and gas boardrooms and lobby groups. That’s how industry keeps writing the rules as Australia faces the climate crisis.

An economy in which Qantas posts a $1.6 billion profit while families struggle to afford childcare and workers can’t put food on the table isn’t something to be proud of.

Tax the big corporations!
