I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too. https://www.tuffyinspringfield.com

What a time to be alive

Maybe but I think that’s like 23/5 trading, something basically designed to attract retail flow

Yeah, there already is existing regulated infrastructure to any of this. I don’t know why, baring some capital rule loophole, institutions would want to wade into these venues.

I’m as surprised as anyone that a deeply repressive regime with nothing left to lose would act this way

This lunch includes all five of the main Dutch food groups: cheese, cucumber, geometry, boredom and sorrow, with most of the vitamin content provided by the soul-destroying view of endless flatness spilling off the far-flung horizon.

Asian Carp are a very real problem in the US and it would be disastrous if they got into the Great Lakes, fwiw

Yeah, probably but, for me, getting the temptation of the phone out of the room helps. Plus it means I’m not on the screen so quickly when I wake

Books are for the day/evening. I want discrete pieces to read before bed. Magazines offer that and the pieces are of varying lengths, which helps depending on how tired I am.

I got the Loftie one recommended by wirecutter. It’s pretty good and unobtrusive. plays white noise to help sleep, which was an important feature for me. comes with all sorts of bells & whistles that I don’t use. But, importantly, don’t need use the app or keep it connected to wifi (only for setup)

On a related note, I’ve started reading a magazine in place of pre-sleep scrolling and, man, print journalism isn’t what it used to be.

Finally bit the bullet and bought an alarm clock, so I could institute a no phone in the bedroom policy. Rather annoyingly, it seems that I am sleeping better

Companies abandoning standard maker/checker protocols was always so weird. Like, I get that AI could help with coding but why remove all standard guardrails?

My favourite part is when she's forced to concede that, yes, people have more free time now, but not her - she's spending all the time she's gained from automation "fighting for the survival of our comrades and children". Checkmate!

Yeah, I like the part like of that thread where the very rose tinted glasses version of farming as a humanity confirming endeavour if done the “right way” appears. Despite thousands of years of evidence that farming has always been gruelling and people who do it have mostly longed not to

The manufacturing industry is so hollowed out that DC can’t even manufacture consent any more. (And depending on how this turns out politically, maybe the need simply no longer exists.)
