A poem signaling its rhetorical situation—I’m excited about this line of thinking. The complexity of occasion, trying to get at the bit of world that elicited the response, when what counts as that bit can keep widening or narrowing. Looking forward to Nebulas’ “infinite and universal contexts”!

“How does a poem begin” is a great question because beginnings seem like they’re only pin-downable when you look right at them.
