Reproduction of Giger's original Alien head at the top, #alienearth creature design at the bottom.
Weta's looks like an inbred cousin.
the seam in the dome is the kind of thing only toys had up to this point... did they.. copy action figures for their design?..
can we let horny weirdos make and design these things again im turning to dust
Alien Earth is over
the most enjoyment I got was doing this to its hideous xenomorph
lastly - Alien Earth's tone. Noah Hawley said that he was aiming for the tone of the first movie but landed closer to an Alien comic book. this isn't a problem per se.. except when it goes over the top, a mechanic in ep5 being so stupid that he feels like he comes out of Red Dwarf.
Alien (1979): The truth about the inside of the Narcissus model
(from The Beast Within: Making Alien)
they can keep their remaster. looks awful.
this feels less like a "minor fuckup" with continuity and more like a gigantic red flag that the showrunner doesn't actually care all that much about what he's doing. I checked around and Noah Hawley was the first guy in decades of movies, comics, novels, games.. to get this aspect wrong. It's funny
in episode 6 it's said that Faster than Light travel isn't a thing in the show's world... it has been in all the movies. in Prometheus they take 2 years to travel to a distant solar system, in Alien it takes 10 months to go from zeta reticuli (39 light years away) back to earth.. etc..
With 8 hours under their belt, the two sibling leads Wendy and Hermit were still less dynamic and less charismatic than the two leads in Fede Alvarez' Alien Romulus.. and if Fede Alvarez is writing better leads than you, then you know your show is fucking up.
Alien Earth ended and what began with promise petered out into a gigantic mess. With the ugliest xenomorph designs on screen, it wasn't particularly good at creating the minute to minute tension that is the lifeblood of Alien.. and even at 8 hours the Neverland storyline felt ..undercooked.
Having reinvented the #Predator franchise with Prey, Dan Trachtenberg is preparing to do it again with Predator: Badlands.
Empire heads into the jungle with Trachtenberg and his cast to get the lowdown on a Predator movie unlike any other.

Been liking the show so far.. with last week's episode being the sole exception - it being a Ridley Scott cosplay hour, with some bizarre bad decisions on how to shoot the alien suit. Show is at its best when it's actually focusing on newer material. Looking forward to this weeks episode..
newspaper article about glinner. Headline is "I was treated like a terrorist for my tweets, says Linehan"
When I was announced as the lead in a Doctor Who spinoff in 2023 Graham Linehan tweeted about me for TWO DAYS, tagging the BBC and others to say that I am pro-child abuse and they shouldn't work with me.
Exorcist 2 is brilliant. Donβt believe the naysayers. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/se...
Ridley still searching for an idea for Prequel#3 matches what the alien fansites heard - that there was an attempt at making the 3rd film that failed because the script just wasn't working. (reportedly because it was trying to tie too much to Alien79)
the show was shot with it taking place around the same date as Aliens (as revealed in production interviews from last year) So the "alien prequel" thing only happened in post. If i was to guess, probably because it signals to audiences that they don't have to worry about watching all the movies.
A video on the hate campaign against Ms. Rachel for being pro-Palestinian children, but really a video about right-wing attacks on children's early education, but really a video about the importance of emotional literacy. Fantastic watch
finding out this was a real screenshot did more to sell me on watching Alien: Earth than any amount of marketing thus far.
also Lillian is right, show is good
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMCI... Just watched the first 2 episodes. Oh. It's very good. the scale is gigantic and has been undersold by the trailers. Makes Prometheus look tiny. Feels like a dark horse comic in terms of tone.
checking my island on WPlace and.. SIGNALIS SPOTTED.
(there's also a trans rights in there somewhere.. the kids are alright)..
The Eternaut (Oesterheld/Breccia) is one of the greatest comics ever created. It was created in a time of rising political dictatorship and its author was βdisappearedβ a few years later.
I beg you to go and read it. It is the last story on earth that should have gotten the AI slop treatment.
