It would be somewhat reasonable for me to complete the Jungle, Fossil and Team Rocket sets too, though I'd have to buy some holos. The Gym series is when it gets to the point where it's clearly not worth the investment.
I'm just a few cards away from having a complete Base Set of the Pokémon Trading Card game and none of the remaining cards are particularly expensive...should I bother to finish it??

Annual PSA: we Americans start Daylight Savings in a week, as the clocks will spring forward an hour and we suddenly have to get up an hour earlier. Tip: this coming week, try setting your alarm 10 minutes earlier each morning. That way you will adjust to it more gradually!
