Chicago Police Department policy prohibits officers from initiating a pursuit when the most serious suspected offense is an equipment violation, like an improperly displayed license plate.
BREAKING: CPD had fully complied with 16% of the court order that requires CPD to stop routinely violating Black & Latino residents’ constitutional rights by the end of 2024, according to the court-appointed monitoring team charged with keep track of reform efforts. @wttw.bsky.social

The 20th Police District had 20,223 stops, putting us in the top 5 districts with the highest numbers of stops.

➡️Tens of thousands of stops remain unaccounted for in CPD's data
Our friends at Free2Move recently released a report on 2024 traffic stop data.
The new data analysis shows: ➡️CPD made on average more than 800 traffic stops a day last year
➡️Their focus remains on minor infractions that improve road safet
