I discovered the magic of writing something on the board! I asked some 3rd graders several times to put their shoes back on. Finally I wrote it on the board for the next class and one of the same kids who ignored me before told his friends they needed to put on their shoes! "It SAYS!" #TLSky

I've been at my new school for a month & finally realized that I have to allow a certain amount of chaos in the library with little people or I'll drive myself bonkers trying to keep things orderly. Just somehow feels riskier than it did with teens. I have to gauge their energy differently. #TLSky

I spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to make seating charts when I don't yet know the students' names. I'm sure much tweaking will ensue! #TLSky

This is great! I did something similar with weeded hardbacks and dollar store tablecloths, but they didn't stay wrapped well. I may put this idea to use soon as I weed old Reference materials! #TLSkyChat

A2 - at my old library, I painted old thrifted coffee tables and paired them with discounted chairs cushions from Home Goods to create cheap, colorful, flexible seating in our new HS library. The kids loved it! #TLSkyChat

I'm still waiting for a start date at my new job as an elementary librarian. Meanwhile, I'm subbing and making lists of items I need to have on hand. Today I subbed in 3rd grade and added baggies to my list. For teeth! #EduSky

I'm about to start in a K-5 school that's been underserved. I'd love this collection to help get the kids excited about non-fiction, information gathering, and exploring new ideas!

What Works For Me! I tried something new this morning and loved it. Before school, I highlighted a strong sentence or passage from each student’s writing. During class, students worked in groups to try to identify what made the highlighted passage strong. —Tyler Rablin, Teacher

She's gotten me through a lot!

This year, my son cooked and my husband cleaned up. It was great! (We're also all ND) My son said I'd cooked enough big meals over the years and my husband has been cleaning up after meals I cooked for a very long time. I can't remember when or how it started, but you can get there, too!

My mom used to be on her computer all the time. She was confident in her abilities. Windows 8 completely threw her. She stopped getting online, emailing her grandkids, posting pictures on Facebook. She missed it! I tried many times to help her with W8 but she couldn't adjust.
