I always love it when with just some pen and paper, the juices start flowing and before you know it you have a bunch of new card ideas!
ps: check out our lovely little card game! :D
Black table with scattered post-its which feature a bunch of new card ideas written in terrible handwriting.
A bunch of post-its with new card effect ideas ontop of a mouse-mat from @shmork. The handwriting is still horrible (sorry about that)
For @backerkit.com Pocketopia we are looking into making a small expansion to launch along the base game! We are brimming with ideas and prototyping away!
And yes, that is a mouse-mat by the awesome @shmork.bsky.social

The Day card 'Harvester' which has a power of 1 and has a Tactic that reads 'Return 1 Face-down card to its owner's Hand (without looking). It features a field mouse wearing dungarees and wielding a scythe.
The Night card 'Miner' featuring a badger with a shovel and a candle-hat. It has 2 Power and its Ambush text reads as follows 'When you opponent plays a Tactic: Negate the Effect of that Tactic and Take it Out.' The flavor text at the bottom reads 'Ya can trust me to undermine any plan'
image of the Twilight card 'Sonja, Spy' featuring a persuading fox wearing a red cloak and it has 13 Power. Twilight cards feature both a Tactic and an Ambush effect. The Tactic reads: 'Choose 1 Formation from your opponent: Until the end of this Turn, take control of that Formation.' The Ambush effect reads 'Choose 1 card in your Discard Pile: Take that card back to your Hand or an Empty Formation.'
Hare to the Throne features 3 type of Cards, inspired by the different critters that exist in the world: Daylight Critters, Nighttime Critters, and Twilight Critters.

The Tactic reads: 'Choose 1 Formation from your opponent: Until the end of this Turn, take control of that Formation.' The Ambush effect reads 'Choose 1 card in your Discard Pile: Take that card back to your Hand or an Empty Formation.'
And last but not least, Twilight cards! Sitting on the edge between Day and Night, they have all features of both cards combined! They can be played as face-up or face-down soldiers.
They also feature both a Tactic and an Ambush, allowing you to pick which of these powerful effects you wish to use!
Night cards are always played face-down, keeping their info a secret, both as Soldiers or as Ambushes. These hidden Soldiers have to wait a turn before they can act.
Ambushes allow you to respond to situations, even when it's not your turn! Use them to protect your cards or disrupt your opponent!
The Day card 'Harvester' which has a power of 1 and has a Tactic that reads 'Return 1 Face-down card to its owner's Hand (without looking). It features a field mouse wearing dungarees and wielding a scythe.
Let's start with Day cards! Day card Soldier always enter Face-up and can be used the turn they are played.
They also feature a Tactic: Instead of playing the card as a Soldier, you can opt to play it as an Tactic. Tactics are powerful effects that resolve immediately.
First some general info on the cards! Every card has a value called Power in the top left and an effect. When playing a card the player has to choose between access to Power by playing the card as a Soldier, or access to the Effect, losing out on the Soldier!

In Hare to the Throne, you assume the role of either Princess Hazelinde or Prince Rambert, harebrained siblings locked in a conflict of succession. You must best your rival in critter-to-critter combat to claim your rightful place on the Turnip Field Throne.

Elizabeth Hargrave is probably my leading star in game design. Not only has she created beautiful and fantastic games (Wingspan is her number one hit!), she is also always advocating for diversity in the design sphere with a clear and steady voice.

Our artist is not only skilled in 2D, but is also awesome at making 3D critters! Do you see the resemblance? π
