Yes. I don't see why phone use is only a 6 point offence when use impaired driving as badly or worse than being drunk. I'd go for a 2 year immediate ban. It is so dangerous.

A driverβs perspective on passing a cyclist safely. A short thread.
I was driving to work and came up behind a cyclist. High vis, tail lights, mirror. They kept checking over their shoulder. I know that look. Starting your day already bracing for nonsense.
Good morning.
A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive.
Thatβs not an accident. Itβs a choice made by those in power.
Tax wealth. Fund public services. Build an economy for everyone - not the 1%.
βJourneys are safer & smoother when we all work togetherβ
Lovely common sense road rules ad from Wokingham Borough Council.
Great ad/PSB - should have been broadcast country-wide as soon as the new rules came into effect.
π
Precisely.
Not seeing, or not noticing?

Be like Norway.
That sucks. Typical that itβs all about profit for someone else , rather than savings for regular household consumers
Yes, individually, we can only do a small bit, but if government legislates, so much more could be done
I have a home battery. When I get no elec from my solar panels, I charge it at cheap night-time rate, saving money. And also, being on flexible tariff, I can use the timers on my washing machine and dishwasher so they also run at the same time, using that cheap elec without draining the battery.
Enjoy!
Iβve often wondered what grilled cheese is - it looks like what we in the UK might call a cheese toasty or toasted sandwich? Although the bread doesnβt look very browned, so Iβm not sure? π€
Slide from Brent Toderian at @toderianUW.bsky.social that says βIf you design a city for cars, it fails for everyone, including drivers. If you design a multi-model city, it works better for everyone, including drivers.β
Never forget, if you design a city for cars, it fails for everyone, including drivers.
If you design a multi-modal city that makes walking, biking & public transit attractive options, it works better for everyone, including drivers.
INCLUDING DRIVERS.
The βwar on carsβ has always been a lie.
We don't need more cars in urban areas. We need more public transport and bike lanes. #r4today
This is why we need yearly theory tests covering changes to the highway code for all drivers when renewing tax or insurance, and 5 or 10 year practical retests.
If a car needs a yearly checkup to ensure it's fit for the road, then so does the driver.

Rachel Reeves says this Labour Governments decisions are "necessary."
Why is it always necessary to hit the living standards of the 99%?
When are we going to make the necessary decisions about extreme wealth?
The increasingly unsustainable cost of UK public transport Change in financial cost of travel in the UK from May 2011 to April 2021, by type and compared to the cost of living Bus/coach fares: +75.3% Rail fares: +37.3% Cost of living (Retail Price Index): +28.0% Motoring: +9.1% Graph shows clearly that bus and rail fares increased more than cost of living, motoring less Motoring costs include fuel, tax & insurance, purchase and maintenance. Source: RAC Foundation Analysis of ONS data Statista
It'd be cool if the "increasing the cost of motoring hurts poor people" people cared anything like as much about cost to people who rely on public transport - who are disproportionately likely to be poor and disabled, and who consistently face far greater increases in cost.

Thanks for the reminder! I confess to not going out today due to the cold. Must make sure I remember Iβll warm up very soon.
Yet another reason that crossings should be raised to pavement level.
This.
Ah yes, of course, useful for visiting the cafΓ© & library. As you said though, more needed near the shops. The old ones are still there near Pure Gym, and just around the corner, but there arenβt enough because theyβre often full. So some more are needed.
Yes, there are no shops on Kingsway, but there were some put in on the side of Kingsway furthest from the shops. But not on King Street where the shops actually are. Strange.
That is indeed one of lifeβs eternal pleasures π
This is so important to understand. We MUST NOT let anyone get rid of our NHS, itβs just too important for us all - individually AND as a society.

Why are commentators spending so much time on how RefUK would go about implementing fascist policy and not enough time explaining that RefUK are fascists?
