The zeitgeist in the tech sphere is to adopt AI. I do see that there can be productivity gains in that it can produce standard code fairly quickly (no research needed). If I lean into it, what happens when the power is out? Do I stop being a professional programmer when the lights are off?
I'm skeptical of the AI boom. It can be useful, like a really focused, specialized model that reads x-rays or checks seismic activity.
Becoming overly reliant on it for normal stuff opens your life up to getting disrupted when it goes down. Like right now with Claude.
Mild proponent, to clarify. Every few months I throw some random questions at it, and every few months I am disappointed. Just to see how it's progressing.
The scary part is that I'm a proponent of AI! But only in very specific and limited cases. AI videos should probably have some kind of telltale watermark or something to help people differentiate between that and real footage.
I really hate that when I look at any media, I have to evaluate whether this could be AI :(
Slowly realizing that to really get game design progress done quickly, I just have to sit down and solo playtest things. Which is the most boring thing ever but it does move you forward.
Could you just replace the art in the meantime?

One of the problems I've been thinking about is what to do in this style of game when one of your "stocks" hits rock bottom. In the prototypes I've been testing that stock becomes a non-factor in the game. Did you have this problem with any of yours?

Is a list like this something you would use often?
Metatopia was FANTASTIC. Got to meet and hang with a ton of great people, play some fantastic games (unpublished).
I have a lot to chew on now from the playtests I got in. Maybe even make some updates before Pax Unplugged comes around!
Every metatopia I rush to try and turn a year's worth of design ideas into prototypes in a week. So far I have 1 1/2 of 4. 4 would be nice, but let's aim for 2. Yeah 2 sounds reasonable.
