A lot of people on Bluesky sneering at this. But Russia has no interest in helping Iran, apart from the fact they're a key regional ally, they sell them Shahed drones, and that a prolonged war and with it rising energy costs help the Russian economy.

I've just finished recording a podcast with @polphilpod.bsky.social about how bad at politics Labour is, and this is just another example. They just don't seem to be able to grasp policy/comms. Makes it worse that they built this up as an immigration enforcement measure, permanently tainting it. 3/

Making a digital ID mandatory though would automatically exclude some of the most vulnerable elements of society from having access to it. All the while, it just looks like Labour flogging a dead horse of a policy they face massive opposition over, all while there are bigger things to focus on. 2/

Relaunched digital ID will make it easier to access services, minister says Darren Jones says the scheme - originally aimed at curbing illegal working - is now about improving services.

Lots of countries have a form of id, but somehow Labour does seem to be making a good awful hash of this. A voluntary system risks being mandatory in practice, which annoys a lot of people and means it isn't properly implemented from the get go. 1/

Mass Lobby Information β€” Praxis for Migrants and Refugees

Happening tomorrow @praxisprojects.bsky.social and the NRPF Coalition is bringing together organisations for a Mass Lobby event in London to tell MPs loud and clear that we will not sit back quietly while they push through harmful policies against migrants. πŸ‘‡

I am not sure you can so cavalierly say it is "socialists" turning the Greens. I suspect it is a lot more people who are tired of Labour becoming the Conservatives as were, and continuing to move ever rightwards

In politics when you tell people if they don't like what you are doing they can leave it is the equivalent of the young lad in a war movie showing a pic of his sweetheart saying he is going to be with them soon, the ending is predictable.

So often I get "asked", for which see people trying to provoke a response, what rights trans and non-binary individuals are losing. Well, aside from the current and former chairs of the EHCR saying we don't have them, I am gonna say losing access to essential medical support is a pretty big one.

Anyway, friend's daughter, keeping in mind they are 9, went in as Manon from Throne of Glass series, something tells me this was not child's choice, and, reason being, a quote saying "Whatever doesn’t kill me better start running", and honestly, I think this is line to aspire to for everyone.

Just heard from an old friend that her daughter's class teacher took her to one side today. Apparently they decided on Friday to combine world book day and international womens day, so the children had to come in with an inspirational female character, I think it was a bit vague...

I'm told some Labour MPs are unhappy with this latest act of hostility towards trans people being blamed on Streeting. That feels silly or naΓ―ve. It's happening because Wesley kept in place in the NHS, indeed encouraged, the ideologues that Kemi Badenoch *told us* she introduced to key positions.

One of the defining features of the Starmer government is that it never even tries to justify its policies, it just says what it’s doing.

No justification for Streeting’s ban on blockers and hormones, no justification for Phillipson turning schools into anti-trans conversion therapy centres…

Martha's rule may have saved 400 lives so far in England, figures show Exclusive: System brought in after death of 13-year-old is helping 'transform culture' of NHS, says patient safety director Andrew Gregory Health editor Sun 8 Mar 2026 18.00 GMT.

Responding to the data, Wes Streeting, the health secretary, said Mills and Laity had turned "unimaginable grief" into "lasting change".
"Martha's rule is making sure the NHS listens to patients and their families when it matters most, with each call potentially resulting in a life-saving intervention," he said.
"I am determined that Martha's legacy continues to grow through pilots in maternity wards. This is all part of our plan to make sure that patient safety is at the very heart of the NHS and that each and every family gets the compassionate care they expect and deserve."

This makes me SO angry!

This statement from Wes Streeting about β€˜Martha’s Rule’ (listening to family members of patients who want a second opinion on their critical care) yet he completely IGNORES parents of trans kids! πŸ˜–

The f*cking hypocrisy!!! 😀

Dr Alice Hodkinson, founder of Biology in Medicine, a campaign group, said: "We have known for years that cross-sex hormones are harmful for all children through to age 18 so we welcome this announcement.

"However, cross-sex hormones do not become any less harmful on a patient's 18th birthday. There is mounting evidence of the long-term adverse effects which include heart disease, stroke and early mortality.

"For all age groups there are huge concerns about access to illegal drugs privately and via EU loopholes, where patients are accessing prescription hormones from Spain and Ireland in particular, and also the use of illegal anabolic steroids direct from websites.

"We hope the Government will act on all these sources of hormones to protect vulnerable groups of children and young adults from bad actors."

While Labour continues its anti-trans agenda by denying medical assistance to trans young people, it will never be enough for certain "gender critical" ideologues. They won't be satisfied until no trans individuals can transition at all.

Tomorrow Wes Streeting will remove trans minors ability to access, and doctors to prescribe, cross-sex hormones.

Try as it might Labour will never eradicate trans people. They cannot, and should not, change who they are. All Labour will do is make trans lives harder - with more harm and more death.

The home secretary talks about her reforms to the asylum system, including reprocessing applications every two and a half years, as a means to end "pull factors" for refugees. This shows a disturbing lack of awareness about the current system.

The majority of those seeking asylum who we work with come to the UK because they have existing ties to this country. It is where they feel the safest in rebuilding their lives after fleeing war and persecution.

Despite the home secretary's claims to the contrary, the Home Office has neither the ability nor the resources to implement this policy in a workable way. We already see initial applications taking more than a year. To increase the number that need to be reviewed is unfeasible and costly. Not only that, it would leave people seeking safety and security in limbo, at more risk of becoming undocumented and exploited.

This is a policy that is not supported by evidence, and instead has been designed to grab headlines with no thought to the harm it causes those individuals who hoped that they may find some safety here, and the economic and social costs to all of us.

My response in the Guardian to the Home Secretary's changes to asylum rules, and the utterly false claim that Labour's hostile and Inhumane anti-asylum policies reduce "pull factors".
