This is a good lesson for journalists: Use plain language to state true things clearly.

as important as it is to get the gop out of power as quickly as possible the primaries this year really will be make or break on the direction of our political future. gotta take out as many establishment vichy dems as possible to scare the survivors into submission. left tea party 2026 lfg

Remember the mystery a few weeks ago, about how and why xAI was spitting out people's government names, even people who have only *ever* used a pseudonym professionally?

Mike Davis: Prophetic Marxist Historian and Activist The legendary Marxist thinker and activist Mike Davis explored political power and social class for decades. His sharp analysis and glittering prose criss-crossed over urban studies, political economy...

For what would have been Mike Davis's 80th birthday today, we've put the Essential Mike Davis collection on sale through the weekend.

"We must fight like the Red Army in the rubble of Stalingrad. Fight with hope, fight without hope, but fight absolutely."

When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project

For Mahmoud Khalll, this past year has been marked by profound hardship-and by profound courage.
A year ago, Mahmoud was walking home through our city after sharing an iftar with his wife Noor when he was detained by federal agents, flown to Louisiana, and then held in an ICE facility for months. In that time, he was forced to miss the birth of his first child. All of this for exercising his First Amendment rights in protesting the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
And yet, even in the face of that cruelty, there has also been beauty. New Yorkers raising their voices in solidarity. A city refusing to look away. Mahmoud won his freedom, and a father was finally reunited with his child.
Last night, as we marked the one year anniversary of his detention, Rama and I were honored to welcome Mahmoud, Noor, and their son Deen to Gracie Mansion to break our fast together.
Mahmoud is a New Yorker, and he belongs in New York City.
