Happy to share my PhD student's Angeliki Tsouri first published paper, a review on the role of chemosensory proteins in insecticide resistance. Hopefully we will see more of her original research soon.
I should consider shaving at some point
In case you are available between August 3-8, 2025 (I won't, most probably).
EMBO practical course on Drosophila genetics and genomics, with some good friends involved. Cool. www.embl.org/about/info/c...
Some help with the Microbial Genetics course exams. Could not answer a single question myself.
Έχμ...

Last lesson for my Molecular Biology class for this semester; plenty of students present under the (false) anticipation I would hint some of the final exam subjects (actually I don't know what these will be, so could not help much...)
See you next semester for some (molecular) evolutionary biology.
Ok, at least tomorrow I have two hours of classes among meetings, and the day after tomorrow one more hour and then I need to go to a big meeting (aka conference) for the long weekend. Cool.
I know of a Greek "Humanities" Institute that smashed the "starter" grants last year (two of them), at least for Greek standards. Nothing in life sciences or physical sciences and engineering. Makes me a bit concerned, from a certain viewpoint.
Not a single Greek institution among the grantees of ERC consolidator grants this year.
A few Greek surnames in the list of successful candidates, hosted in UK, AT, DK (Social sciences) and BE (Physical sciences). Nothing in Life Sciences.
Not very optimistic for GR research.
In my new book Trusting I suggest that lay people may
distrust science because: (thread)
1. of discrimination, injustice, and potential conspiracies, on behalf of scientists
2. of the perceived implications of scientific conclusions for their worldviews
The Molecular Biology and Genetics Xmas tree is ready again; some extra pizza to make things go down smoothly.

I strongly condemn “amassing evidence that people who habitually stay up late are, on average, more self-admiring, more manipulative, and more psychopathic than people who wake up early in the morning”. We are just night owls.
An IgNobel is all you get, Dr Lyons...

Το ενδεχόμενο να μη μας ενθουσιάζει η Πιαφ το έχουμε σκεφτεί;
Looks familiar.
Not many people around yet, but nice to see familiar faces anyway.
(That's a test post)
