β#RevPit Season has begun! All the discussions are on Bluesky! Swipe for my MSWLβ
βMY MSWL. Age Category: Adult -Romance (paranormal, historical, fantasy) -Sci-fi -Fantasy (either gritty, romantic, or cozy)β
βELEMENTS THAT WILL MAKE ME FLIP: Diverse characters (including but not limited to LGBTQA+, BIPOC, and disabled characters) - I don't want the diversity to be the only focus of the book. People are more than their marginalization and are complex characters. Don't distill them to just one thing., Retellings that are unique (think representation from a marginalized group)β
βELEMENTS THAT WILL MAKE ME FLIP (Cont.): Complex non-romantic relationships (friendships, found families, siblings), Very character-driven plots, Cozy fantasy or sci-fi, Spooky or gothic vibes in a fantasy setting, Steamy romances with compelling love interests and main characters (nothing is more boring than a perfect love interest), Fantasy romance that is cozy, cute, or humorousβ
Thatβs right, itβs #RevPit season! RevPit is an annual contest where winners can receive edits from prof editors (including me!). Come join our lovely community and talk all things writing and editing (even if you arenβt planning on entering).

RevPit definitely brought it a long way! In retrospect, I think I tried querying prematurely! I don't think the full MS was shiny enough to turn into an offer when I first tried querying it. But it's tough to know what could've happened! Others who won had much earlier drafts than mine!

Some of the other winners queried widely before entering RevPit, knowing that a lot of agents (check individual agency guidelines) are open to seeing re-queries if a major revision has happened. Other winners didn't query anyone, so it's really a mix!

Great question! I queried a small number of agents before I entered RevPit. Those that had requested fulls before the contest started were all more than happy to wait to read until I sent them the revision once I found out I won.

Marena Galluccio
Editor: Caroline M. Tell
Genre: YA Fantasy/Mystery
Title: THE SHADOWS OF TIME
When I had submitted my MS (2/3s of it in script format), I never thought Iβd get picked!
Since then, Iβve been working with Caroline to smooth over plot points to make them stronger, without the fear of overwriting.
Once Iβm finished, I canβt wait to query!

A pink and blue text box over a brown slide with a headshot of Nadine.
Editor: Jeni Chappelle
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Title: MYTH, MUSE, MAGICIAN
Text:
Jeni and I broke my story down using a reverse outline, articulated the prominent subplots, and replotted the fantasy and romance beatsβall while embracing my brain. After working through these developmental changes at the outline level, and with copious amounts of encouragement from Jeni and the RevPit community, I completely rewrote the manuscript. Jeni provided me with skills to tackle revisions in a targeted, meaningful, and efficient way and I am forever thankful for her approach to find what supports my process best, for this manuscript and all the ones that come after. A year later, Iβve just completed my third draft and after one more pass, will be sending MYTH, MUSE, MAGICIAN to agents later this month.

Wera Niyom
Editor: Tiffany Grimes
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Title: LET HER INHERIT RUIN
Being chosen to work with Tiffany was such an enlightening experience! She helped me learn how to balance description & dialogue, maintain character agency, incorporate emotional subtext, and learn to accept answers don't come immediately.
Since RevPit, I've been querying, editing another Thai-inspired romantasy, and planning a LitRPG Romance.

I learned so much from Ash P who gave me a full developmental edit. She kept my story grounded and youthful. Her understanding of world building and character development are very extensive.
RevPit was fun and informative. Just loved it.

A yellow slide shares M @notonlyicarus reflection of RevPit. Editor: Hannah Kate Kelley. Genre: MG Horror. Title: KNOWING THE TWINS.
Text: My strange little book got infinitely wilder and stranger thanks to Hannahβs thorough, clear feedback!! I was able to distill my stakes and make the story feel much sharper, which for an atmospheric horror story (and a MG!) is so important.
Hannahβs help has also shaped how Iβm writing my next novel. Iβve been able to query with confidence and have felt really lucky to get the feedback Iβve gotten in the trenches so far, including a 20% full request rate!

A water lily on a pond is centered around its reflection. The text above it says: Reflections one year after winning #RevPit 2025:
Below the water lily, the names "M" "Iris" "Marena" "Rakan" "Ree" "Nadine" and "Wera" float
When I submitted to #RevPit last year, I was curious about what happened to the previous yearβs winners. In the comments below, a few folks from the 2025 cohort have reflected on their experience! We'd love to hear stories from others as well!
