During the Act 10/anti-Walker protests, when it was so incredibly cold, we'd duck into Graze, put our signs in the window, and have brunch and a cocktail, then head back out when we were done. Ah, but I was so much younger then...
@judithclaire

For what it's worth, Sari, it works for me, also a longtime subscriber. Maybe try clearing the cache? Good luck!
I feel your pain.
Halfway through and loving this book. I'm reading slowly because in addition to rich characters and story, the sentences are so damn good.
Can't wait to dive in. It's a beautiful book to look at, too.
Caper, my white gray, and brown mini-poodle, stretches out on a blue quilted bedrspread and looks directly into the camera with her big brown eyes while "holding" the novel Closer by Miriam Gershow in one of her paws. The novel cover, in bright red, pine green and black, is a drawing of a sun porch looking out over a distant city.
I'm planning on spending this warm rainy evening curled up with Caper the dog and Closer the book by @miriamgershow.bsky.social. Perfection.
Yes!! Yes, it is.
BREAKING: Chief Justice Roberts has indefinitely blocked the court order requiring Kilmar Abrego Garcia's return tonight. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...
A throng of protestors (backs to camera) with Madison, WI city buildings in background and gray clouds overhead. Three legible signs: Freedom, Recall R. Johnson and I Bet Canada Feels Like They Live in an Apartment Over a Meth Lab.
Madison, WI--just a sliver of the crowd.
One of the frustrating aspects of all of this is the need for the rational to argue against the irrational as if the irrational is in any way rational. Even writing that sentence exhausted me. It's such a waste of everyone's energy and talents.
Life is strange. You just may have done way more for the country and the party by staying in Wisconsin a little longer. Selfishly, we're glad you're still here with us.
My guess is people who don't pay lots of attn. were reading it for the first time on the ballot and bc they'd just shown their Ids, they didn't quite get this was enshrining it in the constitution. Still, as much as I loathe this outcome, if I could only win one thing tonight, I'd take the court.
A lot of joy here in Wisconsin tonight!!
Or as CSPAN's captioners rendered it, He Neigh Nee. So I guess Mr. Ed can come to Seder as well.
Came here to say this very thing. We're right next door. Come on Sunday. We'll ply you with cheese curds.
Interesting. Is he still coming, just no longer advertising it? Did someone make it clear there'd be consequences? My hope is @joshkaulwi.bsky.social did something heroic. apnews.com/article/wisc...
Toni Morrison reading Beloved is not to be missed, IMHO.
Fellow Wisconsin residents: voting for Crawford on Tuesday was always critical for the state; now itβs critical for the country.
Itβs primarily an academic conference put on by an academic organization. It is useful for some, probably not for people outside the MFA world. I went when my university paid for me and I stopped when I was no longer in academia. Nothing to get all worked up about.
Calls for resignation or firing make sense as a first step. But since he won't resign and won't be fired, what do we do next? And by "we" I mean "you, my representative."
I see others talking about class action suits. It feels like there are so many other issues requiring our energy and attention I can barely focus on this. I feel like I need some kind of Severance thing so different segments of my brain can do different activisms.
Both my novels and some of my earlier short work including one of the very few poems I've ever published. A bit embarrassed they're not stealing my newer, better stuff.
Elon Musk's interest in this race is really clear, and it's not because he cares about the people of Wisconsin. Musk wants Brad Schimel to help his bottom line.

Winthrop Paroo wasn't Marian's brother birthed by hiis clearly postmenopausal mother as the River City folks seem willing to believe, but is actually her son fathered by Miser Madison.
My 15 mo. pup who has heretofore shown no awareness of anything emanating from any screen, including my voice, her image, barking dogs, etc., woke from a dead sleep upon hearing this. She then approached my phone and head tilted through the entire rendition. I think you've got something here.
And, yes, I'm a constituent.
Called you several times begging you to vote no on cloture today. It's not a no-win situation as everyone keeps saying. The win will be standing up to fascism, the win will be doing the right thing regardless of what the other side is doing, the win will be in the fighting.
OK...taking deep breaths...feeling better...
Black Manhattan cocktailin pretty glass with silver stirrer.
Writing; reading; huddling with partner, friends, and dog; calling reps; donations to good people and causes...but also a lot of this.
What? No. Unacceptable. These are difficult times and I need these. Figure something out. Stalk FIT or something.
