You are not going to get me to empathize with these grown men - Cavanaugh was 28, and Fox was 27 (they are 29, and 28 now IIRC)

You can argue they didn't know it was potentially criminal but even if what they were doing was legal it was steeped in bigotry. They don't get a pass on that.

This is Nathan Cavanaugh, another DOGE staffer explaining how he flagged grants at NEH for "DEI" which would be reviewed for termination. 404 Media has reviewed hours of this footage and we'll have more soon.

Every day I collect another piece of supporting evidence for the idea that the pandemic made a dangerously large plurality, if not an outright majority, of Americans go absolutely feral. Zero sense of or interest in how to interact with other humans in shared spaces. None.

I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasn’t gotten around to doing anything about it yet.

This is the most terminally online Republican administration of your life SO FAR because the Young Republicans that make up the cadre of future lawmakers and leaders are all actively worse.

democrats may win a 2008 level victory in the next presidential election, i think they will, but they will lose either the next election or the election after that (and so on) and every successive GoP admin is going to get more insane until we have a real political reallignment

we basically need an administrative revolution comparable to DOGE in reverse, except competent; to punish those who tried to destroy the republic without escalating a cycle of reprisals; to create new durable institutions; and avoid thermostatic backlash from the public. Gl;hf

Iowa actively removed protections and legalized the ability to explicitly discriminate against trans people in housing, employment, education, and healthcare. Now, they're ensuring that cities can't protect trans people discrimination either.

Reynolds signs Iowa law barring local trans civil rights protections City and county civil rights commissions may no longer protect Iowans from gender identity-based discrimination under a law signed by Gov. Reynolds.

The first state in the US to remove statutory protections for an entire class, gender identity, has just enacted a bill preventing local municipalities from having their own protections for trans people.

535 is the House (435) + the Senate (100).

The number we need is half the House plus one (218), and two thirds of the Senate: (67 Senators).

Just 285 people, all by themselves, could change this wretched story for good.

That's wild. It's even wilder that there's not a chance they will.

This ridiculous union busting does nothing to help the early career researchers the NIH director claims to support. This is ridiculous.

War is hell. Pretending otherwise is a massive, self-serving lie.

But these assholes think war is a video game and don't care about the soldiers they send to die or the children they bomb.

The thing about me being a GenAI skeptic is that I am a third gen early adopter. My machine worker grandpa thought computers were the future and had an Apple IIE. I had two Geocities sites. NIH Says It Will No Longer Recognize the Research Fellows’ Union NIH leadership said the union β€œshould never have been certified,” in an email to the union’s leadership.

NIH leadership wants to strip worker's rights from the majority of scientists on its campuses.

But, the NIH does not get to say whether we are a union or not. We do, and we are no strangers to having to fight for our union. Time for a short history lesson. 1/n

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

I would also point out that this language about the end times and bringing about Armageddon is a direct link between things like focus on the family and their takeover of vast portions of the Air Force Academy in the 80s and 90s and the continued push by evangelicals into other areas of the military
