A really interesting line up tonight. I tell myself I really enjoy a port finish, however tonight perhaps suggests that isn't the case.
I have a bottle of the Bunna in the house, and to be fair I'm not disappointed as it was a nice dram.

I said this was the lowest ABV and the oldest!!
Didn't make it anywhere near the port with that one. Smashed into the first rock I could find π«

"That tastes like your mouth after you've been sick"
That's what she said.
We've landed on this being a parmesan dram. We've actually been very aligned on our scoring tonight until tonight. I didn't find it as offensive as Mrs H did, but it's just a 2/5 for me here.

The palate isn't anything like the nose. It's very thick, salty and it's a low more mellow than all the other drams tonight. There's a stewed chuntey for cheese flavour and water brings out some bitter plum.
Get the feeling it's much older than the rest tonight

Dear Lord! Blue cheese and feet on the nose. Sweaty gym clothes and slightly damp trainers. Not overly strong, but wow, this one doesn't smell nice to either of us
Eeeek

"Like a cigar that's been dipped in a pinot noir"
That's what she said
Another lovely dram and again at a good price would consider a bottle of it.
It's not quite good enough to have me racing out to get it, so based on that our sequential scoring ends as we give Dram 4 a 3/5

Feels very red wine influenced here. Tannins and dry with a ton. blackcurrant, books, tobacco...this one might well be a port finish, more ruby than tawny though (watch this be a tawny...)
With water there's a ton of maraschino cherry there
Tastes old, but every chance it isn't.

This one singes the nose. A subtle wood shavings smell. It smells old, a dusky dusty bureau and old books. There's also red wine like tannins and faint dark berries and burnt toffee sauce.

"Thank fuck they've put a good one in"
That's what she said.
I really like this, though I'm not sure it is quite strong enough to get to a 4, so I'm landing on a 3/5 here....at the right price I'd buy a bottle of this.
So far we're sequential in our scores...

Oh, this is lovely. Angostura bitters, tart blackberries, something citrus like a blood orange. Yet with all those bitter and tart flavours it's still somehow quite sweet.
Water brings out a bit of spice right at the very end but kills some of those lovely flavours.

Smells like cake. Ginger, nutmeg, treacle, brown suagr. It's like a slice of Jamaica cake (Mrs H adds, with some rum & raisin ice cream).
Lovely dark dram in the glass too. We've moved straight from breakfast to dessert here!

"I'm feeling the spicy all over my tongue"
That's what she said...
Seeing some other comments of pepper in the notes too. I didn't get that. It's really dry and tart sweetness. It's like all the dried fruit you'd see available at a breakfast buffet.
Scores a 2/5 for us

Red berries up front on the palate. Cranberries, dried goji berry. It's kinda like the sort of dried fruit you'd pop on your yogurt in the morning.
Mrs H gets pink peppercorns.
2 doubs of water absolutely kills it of character though.
#BlindDrams

Furniture varnish initially on the nose, but there's something really earthy underneath. Not a lot beyond that.
Mrs H says tomato leaves dipped in nail varnish.

Scores for Mrs H and I are aligned and this falls into a 1/5 for both of us.
"If this was the first whisky I ever had, I'd probably never bother trying any others"
That's what she said...

Touch of lemon up front, then floral and green grapes. It's not overly complex, feels young, boozy and a bit white winey
Water adds a funky damp cardboard nose, but brings out honeydew melon and fruit salad sweets.

Peach melba on the nose, syrup from a fruit salad and fizzy on the nose. smells really frsh and light but also boozy.

Tonight at 8pm here on @bsky.app
#BlindDrams Any Port In A Storm
Back on the #BlindDrams tonight and will be joined by Mrs H tonight.
"Any Port in a Storm" the theme tonight. Obvious guesses are Distilleries with Port in the name, all Port finishes or a slight stretch on boat or lighthouse themed drams.
Or is it that they are all best served on the rocks?!

This is right on the border between and 4 and a 5.
Ruadh Maor red wine finish as a complete guess. It reminds me of an Unkiltered bottle I bought at the Linglithgow Whisky Festival
This is a cracking dram that I'd gladly pour again and again
Yeah, I've sold it on myself. 5/5

I'm getting blackberries again. A real theme for me tonight.
It's so smokey, it's so old. The Dog-ends remain. It's a great big whisky hug on a cold winter's night.
Love this. LOVE it.
#BlindDrams

Aged smoke on the nose. Touch of pink germolene. Like the book section of a charity shop....but in a good way π
There's something sweet in here but I can't get to it because it's dog-ends for days.

This is a great dram. Loads of the flavours I typically love but it's really complex and interesting with each sip.
This pale and yet so powerful caught me offguard.
I'll certainly be buying a bottle if it's an equally delicious price
4/5

Now we're talking.
Salty, red liquorice, berry glazed gammon, subtle smoke, overly cooked bacon with a touch of tobacco, old leather and creΜme de muΜre
The taste and colour of this don't make sense in my head. So pale. So powerful.

Meaty. BBQ pork ribs. Beef monster munch. A bit of must and dunnage in there too. I would normally associate this with some Oloroso influence but I'm not convinced... by far the strongest nose so far. By far the more interesting.
#BlindDrams

If I bought this anywhere other than a supermarket I'd be disappointed. It's got some faint flavours which could have made this a decent dram but it's just sooooo weak. It needs to be either less diluted or given more time in the barrel before bottling
Yet it somehow sneaks a 2/5
#BlindDrams

It's really soft. Faints cola cube note on the palate first. It turns savoury before becoming quite bitter with a slight hint of cheap, questionable honey. But there's absolute zero finish on this. It disappears quickly!
Adding water turn this to water....π
#BlindDrams

furniture polish and faint cola cubes up first on the nose. It's then quite savoury. salted kettle chips. It's very subtle though. If I really build up the vapours then there's something like fresh cut grass with a considerable daisy presence in there too.
#BlindDrams
D2
Water killed it, don't add water imho.
A very drinkable dram, though one I'd have when I'm not paying full attention. It's not overly complex, but the building orange dominant flavours were quite nice.
It's just nice enough to sneak into a 3/5
#BlindDrams

Blackberries to taste initially. There's something quite Blair Athol about this for me. Oranges, a little bit nutty and a touch of butter.
The more I drink it the more the oranges stand out. It's syrup like. Sugar syrup notes too.
It doesn't feel that far from an old fashioned
