Just saw the term “hopescrolling.”

The Times is really taking this hard.
If anyone were entitled to issue a “What’s my name?” smackdown, it’s Zohran Mamdani tonight.

I don't appear to have permissions to update the doc but here's a Google Sheets spreadsheet that details all of the advertisers for the Seattle ABC affiliate, owned by Sinclair: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
Hi Bay Area, interesting to note that Nexstar, one of the two TV networks really interested in overtly controlling public discourse by censoring comedians, happens to own KRON here in SF. I suppose calling their advertisers might be interesting.
Stephen Miller is an unamerican revanchist confederate white supremacist neofascist who hates freedom and the gorgeous mosaic of American and global citizenry. He is unfit for any office of responsibility for other peoples’ lives and must resign or be forced from office now. Please like and share.
Ok doing a crash course in Swans, Gira and Jarboe and it seems I’m trending heavily Jarboe
Fkng great story.
Judith Butler: "It is important to refuse the notion that this is just how things are right now, invoking a feckless realpolitik that justifies complicity with a brutal and rising authoritarianism."

Do not celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Our commitment must be to dismantle the poisonous, intellectually bankrupt propaganda he was so well-paid to spread. He was a martyr all right — to his own folly, and to the cynical, corrupted, profiteering hate mongers he sold his soul to.
Blowback. Remembering 9/11 and the current tragedies of our times: These do not occur in a vacuum. They are unjust, wicked, cruel, yes, but there are forces of cause and effect. Our ordinary lives are yoked to monstrously destructive systems, and blowback is real. We must make better choices.
If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.
New flash fiction online today @reckoningmag.bsky.social ! “To Plant an Oak in Sand” is about rewilding a lawn. Which you should most certainly consider if you have one. Also…feelings. And oak trees 🌳

I wanted to repost that last thing because it's a good reminder to train yourself to respond, ask for confirmation of what was just said, and push back audibly & clearly if someone says racist & misogynistic things in your presence.
also a reminder that Americans don't have a monopoly on bigotry.
It’s raining in San Francisco in the depths of the dry season. Only for a minute or so. May it extinguish some fires.
