Wolfwood at the slip ’n slide. He’s got his legs kicked up and out, and his left arm flailing as he falls ass-first into a pool of water, sending up a big splash. punisher has landed heavily at his right side, smaller splashes around her. Rubble from above also rains down making the water turbulent. the translated sound effect reads “sliiiide” indicating wolfwood is slipping and being washed away by the force of the water. This panel takes place shortly after wolfwood, vash, and milly enter the dragon’s nest town. hoppered has just blasted through buildings high up, causing the water tower to crash down and burst, cratering the ground and knocking wolfwood askew while separating him from the group. one reason this panel is important is because it’s good to remember he had a sopping wet ass during his fight with midvalley, and there’s no way he dried out by the time the big standoff with everyone else happens. Another reason this panel is important is because he’s wildly adorable with his flailing; it makes an enriching+charming contrast to the focused intensity we just saw from him as he warily explored the town (and tried to get milly to turn back), and the battle intensity we’re about to see. This brings us to a third reason this panel is important: it shows wolfwood’s casual physical vulnerability outside of a direct battle. He didn’t anticipate the falling buildings+water tower, and he wasn’t able to dodge/escape when they did even when vash yelled “run!” in a previous panel; he wasn’t able to land gracefully, or with any kind of control. he’s extraordinarily skilled, strong, and powerful, and he can be caught off guard, repeatedly. this panel is an endearing reminder of that, which in turn holds up a mirror reminder that often what matters in his fights is that he always ends up getting back up. Relentless, fierce, and adaptable, even—maybe especially—as a soggy angry cat. from trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 25: CRYING WILD BREED (trimax tankōbon vol. 4 ch. 5)

a smaller woowoo. he’s peering out from behind a wall trying to be both nonchalant and sneaky but not doing a great job of either. his shirt collar and lapels are big, very fluffed up, sticking out just as much as the rest of his blocky suit. his expression is one of his classic pensive-observation faces, eyebrows slightly furrowed, sunglasses in place, and mouth gently pinched and downturned. he has a bit of a looming quality to him and a strong air of nosiness; also his chin is very pincheable. sound effects around him are translated as “boom chika” from surrounding music. this panel takes place at the beginning of vash being harassed by a bounty hunter. wolfwood had been trying to enjoy his firm yet supple breakfast udon (really cute he has breakfast udon) when the attack on vash interrupted his meal. though he quickly heads over to help, he arrives just as vash has dodged a rain of bullet fire and wolfwood pauses here to asses the situation; it’s endearing that this is how he tries to casually peep. from trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 38: COLORLESS EXPRESSION (trimax tankōbon vol. 6 ch. 5)

He’s wearing his sunglasses, his sideburns are relaxed, his hair is pleasantly fluffy-choppy, and he has his usual blushy marks high up on his cheekbones. His shoulders are a bit hunched, implying he’s leaning forward over the table, but he doesn’t look rushed, just focused. He’s holding the spoon in a loose fist, thumb very close to the scoop end of the spoon, in a way that looks a little awkward but very charming. Meryl has just sat down at his table in the previous panel and Wolfwood is saying to her, “What? Why so glum?” This scene takes place after having seen vash go full plant-chicken mode during the dragon’s nest standoff. In the next panel he offers some of his food to meryl, though he does tell her it’s not that great. He fully knows what’s distressing her, as it’s causing deep conflict for him too, but he first plays at ignorance and then plays at cheeky stoicism as he reserves his own anxieties in favor of offering comfort to meryl with a shared meal and saying, once again, that she and milly should return to their office for their own safety. Similar to his transparent attempts to seem harsh to milly during the dragon’s nest, his care and concern is evident and persists through to this calmer moment. We also usually see Wolfwood’s meals interrupted by collateral damage; it elicits a tender feeling watching him eat. From trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 34 THE GUNSLINGER (trimax tankōbon vol. 6 ch. 1)

Wolfwood with a gaunt, unamused put-upon expression that is endearing and humorous. He’s rolling his eyes at himself, inwardly cringing, after remembering his impulsive hubris on the rooftop right before, when, overwhelmed with how trapped he felt by his situation and the danger the twins’ conflict puts his kiddos/humanity in, he pointed a gun at vash behind vash’s back and had thought ‘is it that easy to eliminate half the threat?’ Obviously the answer is no <3. This panel takes place right after fighting literally back-to-back with vash, defending each other and attacking with such fluidity and unity that there’s the impression wolfwood got lost in the teamwork sauce until vash bumped his shoulder. the sudden contact jolted him into awareness of vash’s strength, ability, and prowess to the point where he realizes how dumb it was to think he could sneak up on vash before. Vash obviously knew what wolfwood was doing; more vitally, though, wolfwood is hit with fully realizing that vash still trusts him enough to have his back to wolfwood (and, as we see in the fight above, for wolfwood to defend vash's back). He’s annoyed at himself for being foolish in multiple regards, but also undeniably a bit soft-hearted over this (probably going to process it later lol), as he goes from extremely keyed-up high-alert to Big Sigh. From trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 35 DOUBLE TEAM (trim tankōbon vol. 6 ch. 2)

holy cow, where do we even start with this one. well, most importantly, wolfwood is wet. his hair is limp, tangled, soggy and he has water dripping down his cheeks and chin. his head is tilted to the side, and his eyes are scrunched shut with his teeth bared and clenched as he gets hold of himself after painfully plummeting into a pool of water thanks to midvalley. he has his usual scuffed up flush high on his cheekbones and his sharp canine fang is cutely on display (even though it's because he's grimacing in discomfort; sorry wolfwood). he's speaking to milly (off screen) saying, "what about...spikey?" it is hard to describe what makes this panel so enigmatic, as it's a well-wrought mix of things, yet he is undeniably both terribly handsome and almost sweet to behold. we feel a rush of sympathy, a tightening in our hearts because of his pain, and at the same time one may feel the urge to pinch his cheeks while also battling a swirl of erotic impulse. fueled in part by him being so damp, it is also his furrowed brow and how tightly squinched shut his eyes are, his lashline thick because of it, that stirs up a range of feelings. while wolfwood has been depicted hurt, angry, vengeful, etc before, rarely do we see him with an expression so vulnerable in the midst of a fight--though perhaps that's because this fight has only just begun; he's gathering himself, leaning on milly's help for just a moment, before he fully transitions into the sharp, relentless fighter he has to be to survive and protect. sensing what's to come in this fight (and its spillover standoff)--and given what's already happened to him--makes this expression alluring and heart-aching to the reader. from trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 26: THE BYSTANDERS (trimax tankōbon vol. 4 ch. 6)

wolfwood, windblown, out on one of the Home ship decks. the steep cliff-like structure of the ship rises behind him in the distance. another panel where he is marvelously shaped; he's wearing a big bulky-drapey black sweater with a deep, deep v-neck (oh my), a soft rumpled white shirt beneath, and a pair of jeans that he likely stole from vash. his hair is tousled in the wind <3. his eyes aren't visible, which, combined with his gently frowny, pinched mouth, signals he's making an expression of restrained emotion. he has his hands shoved into his pockets. vash has just shown him the ship-to-earth communications array and he's feeling an ember of hope for maybe the first time in his life. or rather, he's feeling the desire *to* hope--small and monumental all at once, surely frightening given what he knows he faces and yet he can't help but reach for it anyway. from trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 21: COUNTDOWN (trimax tankōbon vol. 4 ch. 1)

a small wolfwood making a frowny grumpy face. he is so cute, ah! his face is very round giving the impression his cheeks are a bit puffed, a bit pouty. his ears are sticking out a little too, only adding to the cuteness aggression one might feel beholding him. he's had quite the night, having just woken up from a nightmare only to smash his dick on the dick-smasher table, and then given an annoying and intimidating micromanaging reminder message from knives via zazie; he's exhausted and trapped and tangled up and >:[ about it all. his experience of vash's humanity amidst vash's terribly inhuman powerful abilities is at odds with his experience of knives's monstrous use of power. lost in thought as his heart and consciousness struggle with his circumstance, vash's voice calling "wolfwood!" cuts through the dark night engulfing him. from trimax omnibus vol. 2 ch. 35 DOUBLE TEAM (trimax tankōbon vol. 6 ch. 2)

A wolfwood who is full of devilish delight as he is about to pour his trusty bottle of travel hot sauce all over the guy who shot vash. His eyes are closed in cute little crescents and his mouth is a big, open smile. He has his right hand up in a two finger salute as he bustles down the hall full of purpose. The collar of his shirt is tall and perky, reflecting his vengeful whimsy. This is a man on a mission. Also, his nose is extra cute in this panel and his neck is a little distracting all swan-like on display. Alarmed shouts surround him saying, "H...Hey who are you?" "Hey! He's got something there!!"
