we need to talk about that Ring Super Bowl ad
we need to talk about that Ring Super Bowl ad
I had to make a new tier for the 2026 list after seeing Strangers Chapter 3. The full title of which is too long for both Tiermaker and for a single skeet on this site.
But suffice it to say, it turns out there's a lower tier to go than "Borderlands". We have gone even further beyond.
๐จ Epstein survivors release this powerful PSA in advance of the Super Bowl demanding answers from the Justice Department. This is the Super Bowl ad every American should see. Spread it everywhere.
Feels weird to say considering how much I love the other JW movies but I think this movie would've been way better if John wasn't in it? I like it though.
Also I know realistic action isn't the goal and I'm not a scientist but what I think I know about convection has me SCREAMING at the end. ๐ญ
JOEL YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD I READ YOUR MENU
Done and done, I love petty supervillainy.
Maybe I'm biased because I shotgunned the Scream movies to prep for 6 when it was coming out and very quickly got tired of them, but for me, if I want Parker Posey, I'll put on Josie and the Pussycats. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Wonder Man might actually be the best singular season of television Marvel Studios (yeah I know they're back to Marvel Television but you know what I mean) has made.
It's close. But I really think this might be the top spot.

Movie poster for 1963's The Raven
23/?, The Raven
This has Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, AND Peter Lorre, it's basically a perfect movie. Also I forgot this line from Price was even in the movie, but boy does it hit right now.
"Men like Scarabus thrive on the apathy of others, he's thrived on mine and that offends me."
Movie poster for 2021's The Cursed
Got 22/? in tonight, The Cursed (2021)
Vibes and atmosphere count for a lot, and as far as I'm concerned those are through the roof in this one. Along with a neat character design and concept, definitely recommend.
Movie poster for 1984's A Nightmare On Elm Street
Also got 21/? last night, A Nightmare On Elm Street
I feel like it's a disservice to call this horror movie comfort food, but for me? About the best way I can describe it. Uncomfortable and frightening at points but doesn't send me into a panic/depression spiral afterward.
Movie poster for 2025's Clown in a Cornfield
I had such a lead at the start of this month and then life happened. Oh well, 20/?, Clown in a Cornfield.
When I saw this it was an easy top 10 contender for the year. I don't think it's still top 10, but I still had a good time with it. Messaging counts for a lot.
Movie poster for 2025's Black Phone 2
Another one from the previous night that I just got to logging,
19/?, Black Phone 2
There's a lot of elements here that I like and one that I think brings it down a full tier for me. I dunno. I think this is one where I might not have a concrete opinion until I watch it a second time.
Movie poster for 1960's Eyes Without A Face
Watched 18/? last night but just logging it now, Eyes Without A Face (1960)
This has validated my decision to try watching more non-English horror films. Great acting, great camera work, and REALLY great effects for the time. Even the MASK looks genuinely unnerving.
As much as I'm making a concentrated effort to squeeze in horror movies I haven't seen before this month, it's a classic that I always have to include.
I'm usually not the biggest found footage fan, but it was a very pleasant surprise. Also reinforced that I need to make myself watch more non-English films or at least more films made outside the USA, so tonight it's Eyes Without A Face.
A screencap of Letterboxd recent movie watching activity, listing [REC], Sinners, House on Haunted Hill, and Lights Out
Been a minute since I've done one of these/had one that felt worth showing, but 'tis the season.
Poster for the 2007 movie [REC]
And just got to 17/?, 2007's [REC]
I feel like this is why you try your best not to write off particular subgenres. I'm generally not the biggest found footage horror fan, but this one hit a spot. I had a pretty good time with it.
Movie poster for the 2025 film Sinners
Got hung up on some projects and missed a couple days, time to get a lead back with 16/?, a rewatch of Sinners.
This is still easily the best release I've seen all year. Likely one of the best of the decade. Very likely an alltime favorite, but I think I need at least a little more time to confirm
Oh sorry, I thought you meant the second season. I think the third episode is where season one gets going, if memory serves?
I think it just feels unfocused? Like there's three different things going on in this season that could all be the main crux of the story but instead they're all competing with each other and that just makes the usual Gunn shenanigans feel like a waste of time instead of a positive accentuation.
Movie poster for 1959's House on Haunted Hill
Watched 15/? last night, House on Haunted Hill (1959)
I don't think I've seen a single movie with Vincent Price in it that wasn't 10/10 for his presence if nothing else. I love this movie.
Movie poster for Lights Out (2016)
And for 14/?, 2016's Lights Out.
I liked this a lot, except maybe for the ending? But I actually really like the characters and there's some very creative uses of light and the absence thereof in this movie.
And if I watch Until Dawn I'll have seen all of Sandberg's movies.
Movie poster for The Monkey 2025 , a mostly black poster with a sinister drumming monkey toy's face framed primarily in shadow with a stripe of light falling across one eye.
Forgot to log 13/? last night. Since we're also coming up on the end of the year, it's not only time for horror movies but also to start rewatching potential contenders for my favorite movies I saw this year. And this does both.
The Monkey is a stupid goddamn movie and I love every minute of it.
Movie poster for the 2017 film November
12/? is probably the... actually least scary horror movie I've seen so far this month? 2017's November
I... have no idea what the heck I just watched. Maybe it's a consequence of doing it as a friend group movie night watch, but it did not click for me.
Having just rewatched it recently, may I suggest Dead & Buried?
Poster for the Werewolf By Night Disney+ special
Okay I don't technically know that this fully counts but depending on the institution it'd be long enough to count as a feature film, so 11/?: Werewolf By Night (2022)
In my totally biased opinion, this is the best thing Marvel Studios has ever done and the lack of follow-up is unforgivable.
Movie poster for Good Boy, featuring best boy Indy the dog staring at a mass of shadowy hands reaching towards him.
And for 10/? I finally got to watch Good Boy!
He is in fact a very good boy, and this is a very good movie that, I kid you not, is actually made even better by what's after the credits. I'm serious.
Movie poster for 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Had dinner with my dad who's not a big horror fan, so 9/? is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024).
As someone who likes but is steadily gaining more of an appreciation for the original, I'm still amazed that this almost forty year later, kinda uneven sequel is as entertaining as it is.
