Volunteers waist deep in the pond removing the excess growth of reeds, NWWT
Our volunteers have been working hard to clear some of the reeds at our Big Pool Wood Nature Reserve. Left unmanaged, reeds will dominate a pond so we aim for partial removal to help create a habitat mosaic and improve its value for wildlife. 💚

Beaver showing its orange teeth by Nick Upton/Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Did you know that beavers have orange teeth? 🦫
And no, it’s not because they don’t brush them! The enamel in their teeth actually contains iron which they get from their food and this gives them the strength to gnaw through wood. 🪵

Wren chicks at feeding time by Bob Coyle
Spring is on its way, and the bird nesting season will start soon! Most bird species nest between March and August so it's time to plan any works that may affect hedges, trees or woodlands before the birds nest! 💚
