I decided to use one ounce of critical thinking skills, and I called the bookstore that organized the Chicago Independent Bookstore Day buses last year. Although I didn't get an exact date, I did find out that tickets will be going on sale NEXT MONTH.
My watch has... paused.
Day 21 of checking #Chilovebooks to see if Independent Bookstore Day trolley tickets are for sale yet. *refresh* I've got six books in my list so far that I'll be purchasing that day. I plan to have at least one for each bookstore ordered ahead of time. #ibd26

Day 19 of checking #Chilovebooks to see if Independent Bookstore Day trolley tickets are for sale yet. *refresh* I wish it were Independent Bookstore Weekend or that we celebrated "Halfway to Independent Bookstore Day" at the end of Oct. Follow me for more ideas that make other people do work. π

If I get tix, I'll order 1-2 books to each store so I have a guaranteed book I want and will buy for each stop. Does this seem like a good idea or more annoying for staff?

Librarians, what clear material do you use the cover books to protect against wear and tear?
I know it's called contact paper (but please lmk it goes by another name), but what brand/place do you get? I need to cover 20 pb books that are 6" Γ 0.4" Γ 9" and want to do it affordably but also well.

Close up of framed photos. One with a white woman with brown hair in white wedding dress and Wonder Woman crown smiling and pointing to her husband, a white man with brown hair in a black tux with a red vest open to show the Superman symbol on the shirt beneath. I just finished my very first book nook! I would definitely invest in some fine tweezers for the next one & would take the instruction booklet's advice to do all the gluing first, but I think it turned out lovely. I did take a little artistic license on the book covers and pictures, though. π
I still donβt regard myself as a technical master of either, though Iβve gotten a lot more polished with time.
But itβs the essence of punk rock, or whatever you want to call it: donβt worry if itβs good. That comes with time. What you can be now is honest. Honesty is what people respond to in art.
I'm planning to be sober, hydrated, moisturized, and getting a tattoo on my forearm (but at least 2 inches away from the wrist). Does this seem like a good starter tattoo situation?
I just put in an inquiry for my first tattoo, and I'm so nervous/excited/hyped! π©· Any tips for first time tattooees as I embark on the design and hopefully actual tattooing process?

Is this like a "thoughts and prayers" thing ("My wish is for your soul to be healed.") or an exchange ("You get one wish, and I get your soul.")?
This is why hell has such an advantage. It's full of lawyers to hammer out these details.
"A.i." doesn't empower anyone. It strips them of belief in themselves and the power of their own minds and hands and abilities and stories.
EVERY KID CAN DRAW. EVERY KID CAN TELL STORIES AND MAKE COMICS.
Fuck "A.i." for telling kids lies and making them less-than.

They recently added comparisons to other people with your same name, and it has awoken something in me that a psychiatrist should probably take a look at.
