Holy shit - this would be very, very bad:
"The databases, called βNumidentβ and the βMaster Death File,β include records for more than 500 million living and dead Americans, including Social Security numbers, places and dates of birth, citizenship, race and ethnicity, and parentsβ names."

The Singularity is upon us: Apple's AI summarized a text message that read "I'm still down to clown if you are" to.... "clown event still possible."
β.. The advice signals a recalibration by the White House β and reflects growing concern among some Republicans that Democrats are successfully framing Trump's immigration policy as overly sweeping and indiscriminate.β

Truly a perfect news alert
I've been playing Pokopia the last two nights and I think I'm buying into the hype.
EXCLUSIVE: 7 months ago, Ukraine tried to sell the U.S. their battle-proven technology for downing Iranian-made drones.
The Trump administration dismissed the Ukrainians, only to reverse course last week after more-than-expected Iranian drone strikes.
New for @theverge.com: i wrote about how Kansas' trans ID law and the "age verification" systems popping up everywhere tie into larger efforts to force trans people to out themselves both IRL and online
So this is a good reminder that:
-Elections are not yes/no referenda -- may be a choice between two disliked (or liked) options
-Many Dems are dissatisfied w/ party as a whole, still voting for D candidates
-Special election electorate != all registered voters

BREAKING: Former military lawyers say use of JAG lawyers in Minnesota violates the Posse Comitatus Act.
Although recent litigation has focused on troop deployments to American cities, a new challenge in Minnesota looks at DOJ's use of JAG lawyers in non-military cases.

(These are not necessarily in opposition, e.g. "specialty" could include grocery store beverages or similar, but I do not think 42% of Americans are ordering daily fancyccinos.)
As this WSJ reporter notes, Hegseth's and Trump's lines on Iran couldn't possibly be further out of step.
