Some small, dark green cross stitches on white fabric, not enough yet to form a pattern.
New project! A Long Dog Peccadillo, "Naughty But Nice." My first attempt at 1 over 1, 28-count evenweave.

Finally done! My French knots are not the greatest overall, but some of them are decent for a first attempt. @oldgodspod.bsky.social

A fluffy grey tabby cat lying in a green sofa.
A very happy third birthday (observed) to our resident seal baby / haunted Elizabethan urchin / recluse sitting in a corner, muttering about Tevinter.
A fluffy grey tabby cat with his eyes squinted shut. He looks like he is smiling.
Because 2025, the year of medical whoopsies, had not yet released us, I get to spend my birthday weekend mildly concussed. But at least I have cute cats.
Movie for tonight was Cold Comfort Farm. Husband stated watching it (his first time) was the best thing to happen all week. We are likely to be reminding each other that there is no butter in hell until something else distracts us.
It's Saturday, which means it's "work through our physical media backlog" night. And because we're romantics, tonight it was Gladiator! Celebrating husband's love of justified retribution, my love of Oliver Reed, and Hans Zimmer's love of those themes he would reuse in Pirates.
Today's movie discussion is, if Toshiro Mifune had been cast as Obi-Wan in The Star Wars, who would have played him in the prequels? (Hiroyuki Sanada?)
(Darth Maul is played by Brandon Lee, obviously.)
("What movies other then The Matrix would we want Brandon Lee in" is a recurring game here.)
Have just shown Arrival to spouse. His sole complaint was the lack of chemistry between the leads, so we are discussing replacements to be Amy Adams's sidekick/spouse.
Top choices so far: Joshua Jackson, Ewan McGregor, Aldis Hodge, and Kat Dennings.
Makes sense that the man who stole from Satoshi Kon's work multiple times would make an animated series with a plagiarism machine. (clip via @ani-obsessive.bsky.social )
Went to a concert; wound up sitting next to the wife of the younger brother of a guy I went out with briefly when I was 15; they were in from out of town.
Neko Case is still great!
(He likes noir and Lovecraft, so obviously he had a good time.)
Tonight was spouse's first time watching Dark City. I made sure it was the director's cut, and told him about the theatrical release. He is now freshly mad about 30-year-old decisions.
A brown tabby cat loafs on a blue blanket. His one eye is partially open.
Have a sleepy kitty.
I am excited to see how they manage paper charting! But then, the most thrilling part of S1 for me was Noah Wylie yelling at doctors to walk through their medical decision making in a narrative.
A screenshot of merriam-webster's 2026 word gif, which in this case is "opulent."
I get more presents?
Also probably The Thin Man.
Comic from findchaffy, "The 4 stages of eating cheese." (Eating cheese, still eating cheese, ate too much cheese, bit more cheese.)
A cheesecake topped with pecans in a brown sugar glaze.
And pecan pie cheesecake.
A plate of all the foods listed, clockwise from the top.
Roasted brussels, butternut, and bacon; mashed potatoes; gravy with stock made from the Thanksgiving carcass; turkey breast; orange-brown sugar cranberries; beef house rolls.
Me on Thanksgiving: I am not doing that again for Christmas.
Me two days after Thanksgiving: What if I did that again for Christmas?
A fluffy black cat sitting in a cardboard box.
Loki, in a cat's natural habitat: a Garrett's box.
Bad news: @mydnight.bsky.social is going to die.
Good news: the existence of the afterlife will be proven by Whoopi Goldberg yelling "Moop!" at me.
The Amazing Devil has a song for every life stage! youtu.be/e4_5mOSERCA
Not as much as I am in the sedimentary or metamorphic rock categories. I mean, I can take your igneous rocks or leave them. I relate primarily to micas, quartz, feldspar. You can keep your pyroxines, magnetites, and coarse-grained plutonics as far as I'm concerned.
Thanksgiving transport a success! I said "Please take as many leftovers as you want" and all the rolls and gravy were claimed (as well as multiple containers of everything else).
Roughly formed but small balls of dough in a pan.
Part 2. Everything will be going on a 2.5-hour road trip tomorrow morning, during which the rolls will have their second proof.
Green beans.
A browned mixture of slivered almonds, garlic, and shallots.
A pumpkin pie with a gingersnap crust.
Gravy!
Thanksgiving prep, day 2.
A can of jellied cranberry sauce, Ocean Spray.
Also, obligatory.
A cooked, spatchcocked turkey over vegetables.
A pan of stuffing.
A large amount of mashed potatoes.
Cooked cranberry sauce.
Thanksgiving prep day 1!
