One day, we will be equally represented and equally paid and have equal share of the domestic work including the cognitive load. And yes we have lost some of our rights but today is not tomorrow. As RBG said, when there are 9.
I want to wish everyone a Happy International Womenโs Day - except right now it doesnโt feel happy.
So instead I will remind you that movements move slowly, and temporary losses are not the end. Even if this takes longer than our lifetimes, we must keep our heads up and keep pushing for equality.
So true! My kids want my name now but I told them best to use it as a preferred name now and wait until 18, when they donโt need paternal consent. But then the birth certificate will have to be corrected if they keep up this crazy birth certificate stuff.

Itโs an uphill battle sometimes but hopefully itโs worth it for our patients
So true, itโs terrible
โIf the freeze is not stopped, I might lose my house."
Some NSF-funded postdocs are having trouble paying rent and credit card bills because their salaries were paused this week, even though the federal funding freeze memo was rescinded.

This is such a clear explanation of what is causing me, as an obgyn, who cares deeply for women of all races and ethnicities and for transgender people, to feel utterly terrified. My career started at the NIH, before med school - we need their work.
The chances are very low after bilateral salpingectomy, meaning removing both tubes, much less than 1%, more effective than other tubals. But not impossible. Viable pregnancy is even lower.
Working in practice the past 10+ years I have learned so much from my patients. Sometimes surgery is the safest and best choice. And the patientโs values and desires are what matter after counseling. For fertility, I would also encourage salpingectomy as a great option if no fertility is desired.
I hate that for you. Youโre not wrong - medicine is definitely a field where mentorship is crucial. I personally trained at an institute where the large majority of attending were older men. The teaching was strict about offering hysterectomy.
Surgery when needed is a great option and offered without our moral judgement about maintaining fertility, but risks/benefits/alternatives - we should counsel and allow patientsโ autonomy to choose, but we definitely need our medical interventions which are less invasive to still be an option.
First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because Iโve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.
Wow! So frightening, yet very articulate.
Agreed, extremely frightening!!!
So devastating
If you thought it couldnโt get worse, all public health announcements have been halted. Good luck non medical

No, itโs not
When did they do that? What did the site used to be? Thatโs horrendous.
The US government funded website reproductiverights.com has been replaced with this manipulative website.

Cecile Richards spent her life fighting for health care, reproductive rights, and freedom for all. She was a champion for women at a pivotal time, and will be greatly missed.
My thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.
My 7yo son, in asking me to read him โWho was Martin Luther King Jrโ and watch his โI have a dreamโ speech, reminded me of the importance today of not just remembering this hero, but of his message. This reminded me we must consider morality in our actions, and question what seems unjust #mlkday2025
