Eeek! Canβt wait to meet you in July:)
New pub out from the Medical Behavioral Unit at Rady Childrenβs found: presence of NSSI and a lower BMI at initial admission in addition to Black race were associated with higher risk of multiple hospitalizations. In general 20% of pts had multiple admissions. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
This administration specializes in fearmongering, not facts.
The facts: 86% of trans youth report s*cidal ideation and 56% have attempted to end their lives. Anti trans laws increase attempts by ~72%. <1% report regretting GAC.
If they are trying to protect children, science says they are wrong.
I had a blast talking all things diet culture and maladaptive exercise with the Overt Thinking podcast the other week would love for anyone to give it a listen! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/o...
Yes! Itβs been multiple each week. Iβve had to start saying no which I always feel bad but I just donβt have the time to allocate to do them well.

There are also possibilities for research opportunities and additional training opportunities through continued affiliation with the UCSD Eating Disorders Center. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a fellow and was able to stay on as full time staff at Rady Childrens!
Our specialized inpatient unit focuses on medical stabilization of eating disorders using a multidisciplinary approach + evidence-based treatments (FBT, CBT, DBT). Fellows also gain experience in pediatric consultation-liaison psychology.
Hopping on to promote that my former fellowship is recruiting up to 2 post-doctoral fellows for the 26-27 training year! More details below: The Medical Behavioral Unit (MBU) at Rady Childrenβs Hospital, San Diego is recruiting 2 Postdoctoral Fellows!
π£New pub from my time as a postdoc at the UCSD EDC. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/.... Findings indicate that dysfunctional exercise and eating disorder pathology have a reciprocal relationship emphasizing the need to address both bx during treatment.
Our amazing practicum student is recruiting for her dissertation! 10 weeks of free remote therapy for teen girls. Please share widely!

I havenβt been on here much yet (hoping to change that) but I would like to emphasize the economic impact of the NIH in the state I call home. I got into this career to help improve treatment for eating disorders. Without agencies like the NIH it would be a lot harder to achieve.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sectionsβthe independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.
Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
So thrilled that both my abstracts with @USFDEPTHLab and @UCSD_EDC were accepted as talks for #iced2024. Canβt wait to talk about #compulsiveexercise and #eatingdisorders in New York this spring!
