Second ever 48 and new LADX record after almost 5 years, gg 🐋
Running LADX at ESA next Tuesday filling in as a backup run, schedule with local timezone can be found here esamarathon.com/schedule/
Well, this post got obsoleted quickly lol but the run still sux
I don't think I will *quit* osu! anytime soon, but once I get the older maps maxed out to my capability then it will for sure dip in priority so we'll see what the future holds.
Anyways, enough rambling lol, happy new year to anyone that somehow read this far and may 2026 be a blessed gaming year ⭐
After that is hopefully taken care of, I actually don't have any immediate priorities in the game to do beyond maybe doing some completion stuff in 2011-2014, so I might take a break and finally do some casual games. I have a large backlog of stuff I've been wanting to play after all.
For the start of 2026, I am planning to focus on fixing scores on 2008 and 2009 maps. I may stream this somewhere, either on main channel or this silly alt channel I was streaming on in August www.twitch.tv/oldmapgamer1..., haven't decided yet but leaning more towards the alt since it's more chill.
I considered going for a second side event, but the only interesting one was Krisom maps which I cannot get 1st in due to scores I have already set prior to December. (1st place currently has 252)
Overall, 2025 was a very fruitful year in terms of osu! grinding, happy with what I've achieved.
The price for 1st place in a side event (in case you couldn't be bothered to check the sheet) is only €20, so not really worth stressing over, but it was fun to revisit some nostalgic 2016 maps even if low difficulties can get quite boring to grind for 2-3 hours every day.
I also did exclusively low difficulties with Doubletime for the sake of efficiency. I kept up this routine very solidly until halfway through the 29th where I just kind of got tired of playing lol, but I feel like I gave myself enough of a lead that I can rest now.
The way I decided to go about this event was to try and spread out maps fairly evenly throughout the month, so on December 1st for example I was going through mapsets ranked on January 1st 2016, February 1st, March 1st and so on, and then on the 2nd I played the ones ranked on the 2nd.
Since I am an employed person competing against many presumably unemployed gamers, I decided to completely ditch the main event and put all my focus into one side event, which was for 2016 map SS's. As of writing this, I am about 800 ahead of 2nd place on the last day so I should probably win.
Decided to partake in the SS event held by the dedicated SS discord server for those with 10,000 and above (I think this is semi-secret but the sheet says people outside the server could partake so idk) which you can read about if you would like here docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
Was gonna do another Bonus osu! section here but I don't really feel like digging up stats again, so basically what I accomplished was:
2010 Completion (old thread)
Score on the top difficulty of every map from March 2013 to April 2015
Polished scores on maps from 2007/08
2016 SS Event (see below)
Don't really want to set goals for 2026 since my speedrun motivation is fluctuating a lot, but I'll keep grinding for a good time in LADX at the very least.
As for events, I'm planning to go to ESA Winter and maybe considering Summer as well, will see once the event gets closer. Speed lives on 🥀
Link's Awakening DX (GBC)

Managed the sub 50 time I alluded to in last year's recap at last, but I have improved so much at the game to the point where that's not really a good enough time anymore. I'm still running this at the moment and would like to go for a 48.
Oracle of Seasons (GBC)

Picked this category back up for a small period of time after getting some motivation from Thunderbolt running it. A good time for this category is around 20 seconds faster but the category is not fun whatsoever so not sure when I'll return.
Strider (NES)

Learned this game on a whim after watching coolkid return to it at the time and knew about the game's history from GDQ and such. Experimented a bit with the hardest route but decided it wasn't for me in the end so this time is good considering the strats used.
Speedrunning in 2025 (this will be very short lol)
Video examples below from Siglemic's SM64 WR stream on August 5th 2012, glitchy wall kick backup in WF and post run interview going over it
It's mostly super big streamers from 2010-2014 (only speedrunners really are Narcissa Wright and a few videos from Siglemic) but I definitelly recommend checking if there is something of anyone's interest since the .flv files have great quality considering how much time has passed.
I've been into video archiving lately and found this insane site today with a bunch of old Twitch VODs pre-August 2014 (when they got rid of Past Broadcasts lasting forever) twitcharchive.com
Did another speedrun in 2025, first ever sub 41 🐓
(Also some of the images have additional comments if you click the ALT button in the corner okay now that's all bye)
That sums up the thoughts I have for now, the grind shall go on ✊ (end of thread)
Current plan is to get started on 2011 and at some point take a break to go back and fix old scores in the earlier years, similar to what I did in December, before getting back on hard maps in 2013.
This gets into the era where there are a lot of nostalgic maps for me, so it should be a lot of fun.
Getting through all of 2010 feels very rewarding, and I am very sure I'll be doing all of 2011 as well. 2012 onwards is where I get the feel many of the easier maps may get more and more formulaic, so it might not be interesting enough to literally clear all of them in a row.
Global map leaderboard stats from December compared to now
Most of the gained #1s are outspins which imo is a bit lame, but in fairness there are a lot of very good spin players these days so getting those are definitely not easy. I gained a lot more than expected, so that's pretty cool in the end.
Highest total pp from maps in 2010, so adding up from every single map rather than a weighted top 100 akin to regular top plays. Top 2 in this stat between 2007-2010.
