Thanks, @abbiewjames.bsky.social!
Thanks, @abbiewjames.bsky.social!
Likewise! And I did give @keelyinkster.bsky.social and @lisamooreramee.bsky.social a hug for you!
Excited to be on a Saturday #middlegrade panel at this conference with fellow authors Sam Subity, Jane Kuo, Diana Farid, @nikkishannonsmith.bsky.social and @aquapup.com !
From a librarian friend who has been working with ELLs for years and knows how to keep the conversations relevant!
In the midst of a depressing January, watching the Jing Mo Athletic Association do their Lion dance was a bright spot and made me glad to be working for San Francisco Public Library.
Yes, for me if I got off FB there are some old friends Iβd totally lose contact with.
This sure has got me thinking. As of now just staying off Meta but I keep wondering why Iβm hanging onβ¦
Lol me either! I haven't posted anything in 10 months, went to have a look at what was going on, and found 500 new followers! It's all the starter packs, I think. I stumbled on one and followed a bunch of people but not sure exactly how they work.
Thanks so much! Just signed up.
Lisa, would you mind sharing where you signed up? I've been keeping an eye on @katemessner.bsky.social's website but haven't seen her post about #WRAD2025 yet. Am I missing it? (Your new book sounds awesome, btw!)
My top 5 most overused words, according to the ms I'm currently revising: nod, look, feel, seems, and eyebrows. (I'd be so lost without the Search feature in Word!)
What are your top 5 most overused words?

I chose 3 of my favorite books from 2023 to write about on Shepherd's reading rec site, feat. @erinentrada.bsky.social, Claire Swinarksi, & Christina Soontornvat. Read why I love these books here: shepherd.com/bboy/2023/f/...

Hey look, Kasey Giard over at The Story Sanctuary reviewed LEARNING TO FALL for a MMGM (Marvelous Middle-Grade Monday)! Give Kasey' blog a follow--she looks at lots of backlist titles, has a positive & supportive attitude, and manages to review a ton of books!

I was vacillating too, but enough already. I donβt want to support EM in any way. I deactivated my profile the other day and encourage everyone to make the final jump too.
πππΌ Just finished @torreymaldonado.bsky.socialβs Hands and loved this short (135 pp!) intense, emotionally satisfying, page turner. Will definitely rec to my library patrons, esp those intimidated by thick books!
What a great idea! Iβd love to be a part of this! Iβve read the guidelines and agree to the terms.
When I was at the Highlights retreat in October @laurelsnyder.bsky.social told me to listen to Ezra Klein's interview with Jeff Tweedy, and I finally did. I highly recommended it--it's interesting and inspiring and will help you think deeply about your creative habits. Thanks, Laurel!
Such a fun time yesterday hanging out with local author friends at the Dublin public library.
Shout out to the amazing @matokah.bsky.social, @keelyinkster.bsky.social, and @sallye.bsky.social! Check out their books if you havenβt already!
Yes. I was finally building a writing community when he took over. So many supportive librarians and teachers are on there! But the ickiness started outweighing any joy I was getting so I left. I think we have to, and just spread the word to those we wish would move over here!
Totally agree!

Yesterday was the last day of Banned Books Week but unfortunately not the end of banned books. I love being part of San Francisco Public Libraryβs campaign to GIVE AWAY banned books!

Don't forget about the Jewish Easter eggs! I didn't realize till later after she mentioned them what a hilarious phrase that is, but I'm definitely going to re-read to see if I can spot them.
Yes! They also made a TV series of it a couple years ago, but the book was so perfect I didn't bother watching it.
middle grade writers at Highlights Foundation retreat each holding a rock with a word on it
The Highlights Middle Grade Writers Generative Retreat led by @erinentrada.bsky.social and @laurelsnyder.bsky.social was everything I hoped for and more! Here's our group photo in the rock word garden--my rock says "mensch" because I met a bunch of them!
Yay, thanks! I think Iβm going to like it there!
Me too! I really needed to read this. And I agree, we all should be more transparent about the hardships of this craft. The more I talk to other writers, the more I realize I am not alone in my disappointing experiences!οΏΌ
Yes! It's going to be so fun!
Iβve been off all the T/X type apps for so long I forget how to post on here. But pictures! Pictures I know how to post. Hereβs an inadequate one of Zadie Smith being casually brilliant at a City Arts lecture the other night.
