@jonathanroberts
I tell stories and build communities. Professionally: marketing and media. I also co-founded a run club. Chickens, dogs, bikes, and hikes. Work —> teamwithaspire.com Run club —> christiansburgrunclub.com Personal blog —> thepaceoflife.com

I knew all this was going to happen. But nothing can really prepare you for what it feels like when the moment actually arrives. This is why we need each other and our communities. I plan to turn to them a lot in the coming years.
Playing around with RSS is fun! Substack and Ghost make it easy to find feeds. Beehiive RSS is off by default but looks like you can turn it on.
Most of the national pubs still use it. I’m sad @cardinalnews.org doesn’t seem to have one.
Just downloaded an RSS app (I chose Feedly) again after, what, a decade or more?
I missed this so much. Best way to read internet things and keep up without flooding my email inbox.
Latest post! We don't often plan but we always have a plan.
On preparedness, yellow jackets, and getting back to a warm bed.
Nice hike to Rice Fields in Giles County, Virginia! Our puppy, Samwise, is getting so big!
We don’t NEED social media to get the word out and build.
Start that newsletter.
Attend that networking event.
Send out print materials.
Create a community of real people.
Marketing doesn’t have to mean Meta. There’s other ways. I promise.
New week! Getting a new post ready. In the meantime, here’s the last—I really enjoyed writing this one.
On running, mental health, and what makes me tick.
I saw this then showed the list to Kristy earlier today. We both agreed that we’d look for “neighborhood culture” next move.
Do neighbors wants to be friends? Do they mingle? Is there community on the street?
I grew up without that and have it now. I wouldn’t want to move away from it.
Spending time online can leave you with a warped view of the world and that's a shame. Good people have always outnumbered bad people and things generally get better. Hold onto that x
Samwise is fitting in great. He’s incredibly confident, patient, and sweet. Even doing well off-leash, he just looks at his big sister and follows her cues.
Group of runners and walkers in Christiansburg, Virginia.
Cold Thursday at Christiansburg Run Club!
Any new Starter Packs on here for:
-Runners?
-Multimedia creatives?
-Storytellers?
-Community builders?
Share away! I’d love to connect.
Writing is fun again. The response to longer-form stuff is nice to see. It turns out, we do have attention spans! We just don’t use that to read AI-written crap.
Words from me, to you: thepaceoflife.com
Talking about when the internet was good, this was one of my favorites. I refreshed the Yehuda Moon site every single day in high school.
It fiercely fueled my bike obsession.
There were always dark parts of the internet. Now, they’re just propelled to the mainstream because people love to argue and are fueled by hate.
Claw back. Use the good parts. We can do this. If you aren’t sure how, let’s talk. I’ve been chronically online for a long time—before Zuck was ever here.
Finally priced out of my favorite little WV mountain town. Been doing birthday trips there for a bit.
Who is paying these short-term rental rates?
Feels like a great day to be anywhere else online than Meta.
I really want to be one of my those prolific photographers who puts out quality everyday.
Some people space out posts to appear that way but I know plenty of people who crank out incredible work daily.
I just need more time behind a lens.
This year has been hard. Through that, I’ve learned a lot. Latest post!
Same. One bike for all things road. Normal people call the tires skinny. Road bikers think they’re super wide.
Honestly, it’s just refreshing to be on a platform that isn’t Meta.
This is feeling like a retreat to when the Internet was more fun. In that vein, I restarted #blogging this year too! Reach isn’t the goal—depth is. www.thepaceoflife.com
I haven’t even managed to make it to a #Greensky show yet. I guess #Bluesky will have to do.
