Great to work with the team @thisinstitute.cam.ac.uk on this paper, which looks at all the different ways of improving access to general practice.
Make sure to also check our related piece - "Rethinking access: it's not all about supply" - which draws on the data and the politics of access too👇

Line chart of number of full-time equivalent, fully trained, permanent GPs per 100,000 needs-weighted patients by neighbourhood deprivation quintile showing that, relative to patient need, the most deprived neighbourhoods are served by fewer GPs than the most affluent.
General practice in England is facing significant pressure.
Despite record numbers of appointments, more GPs are still needed, especially in deprived areas, where need is greatest.

October 2024 now holds the record for the highest monthly number of general practice appointments delivered at 39.5 million.
This beats previous record holder October 2023 by over 4 million. Some of this is down to better data capture but definitely not all - activity is high.
