To my mind this screenshot I lifted from @tslumley.bsky.social's blog post is the key point. The cross-nation variability is so extreme that small age differences in sampling across countries (e.g., Indonesian respondents younger than Swedish) can induce a spurious "gen z are conservative" result

"This is what democracy looks like" they said at the beginning, but this is actually what gatekeeping people out of democracy looks like.

Great to join the Adams County caucuses and Arapahoe County Assembly in person today as well as the Jefferson and Larimer County assemblies online. The energy was palpableβ€”as was the appreciation for candidates who show up.

Just heard from @senadorajulie.bsky.social at arapahoe county convention. She's got my support! it's time for candidates that represent us.

The only feature of 1Password that matters is their business dies overnight if they get hacked so they’ve thought harder about security than anyone you know.

You can’t vibe code that in two evenings no matter how much you ask Claude to β€œmake it secure”

I feel like it’s more sinister than that (also was a big fan who is not excited at all). It feels like it’s not that it’s proven ip, it feels designed to send a message about what kind of behaviour is acceptable from white men.

As I have said before, and reiterate in my statement below, commuting Tina Peters' sentence would be a grave miscarriage of justice and is not appropriate given the seriousness of her crimes and lack of remorse.

NEW: Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser (D) says Gov Jared Polis (D) offering clemency to Tina Peters "would be a grave miscarriage of justice and dangerous for free and fair elections."

According to the governor’s spokesperson, no action has been taken re: Peters. His office adds that Polis is not considering a pardon, but commutation remains on the table.

While I do believe this is a well researched, realistic , reasonable portrait it is fiction or as the author chose to categorise it β€œhypothetical / creatime nonfiction”.

Seeing a lot of reposts of Mr. Kinzingerβ€˜s skeet In my feed. it is not true, it may very well happen but it has not happened yet. Gov Polis has not yet pardoned Tina Peters.

More data centers are coming to Colorado, demanding more power than they'll need. Will customers foot the bill? Colorado regulators want rules in place to shield ordinary from getting stuck paying for increased generating and transmission capacity

Incredible that Democrats have had three cracks at candidate recruitment in this huge, diverse district and haven't managed to move beyond slight variations on "rich guy from Aspen"

Strongly recommend this excellent piece. It actually understates the US failure: Brazil and S. Korea aren’t outliers. Quite the opposite. Since 2010, 31 democracies have convicted or banned leaders from office. Accountability is the democratic norm. America is the sole outlier.

This can't be reformed. These people can't be redeemed. The entire system must be dismantled and every single person who is part of it must be tried for their crimes against humanity.

If you think "How do we defund ICE without defunding the police? How do we keep police the same, because that part is working fine, but change ICE, because that part is out of control?🀑" then we do not have a shared goal.

The police are not working fine for Black people.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
