And in the 1910-1915 electoral registers, house names used for a while β after residents were compelled to use house names or numbers from 1909 β but which were then abandoned in favour of numbers. I may have to follow up my βBy the numbersβ #OnePlaceStudy blog post with a Part 3! #OnePlaceWednesday
Head still spinning at all the new info in these electoral registers and possible further research. Absent voters lists may shed light on #WW1 service of some Waters Upton men. So many names of short-term between-census residents not in my #OnePlaceStudy 'tree' to follow up. 1/2 #OnePlaceWednesday
Love on the rocks!
It's #Wrensday. Something to shout about at #Springtime
An idea I picked up from another One-Placer a while back. Much needed on a Wordpress site, where itβs easy to see the latest posts but not the latest pages (I have many more pages that postsβ144 now, which is a lot of transcribed records!). And yes, a great way to track progress! #OnePlaceWednesday
Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #WingsOpenNotFlying, birds with wings open on the Floor/Water but not flying. #birds #photograpohy #ECK

My #OnePlaceWednesday update. Still waiting for the last 6 of the wills ordered last year for 2 of my #OnePlaceStudies (3 each for Fawsley & Waters Upton). Following Ancestryβs addition of #Shropshire electoral registers Iβve been busy transcribing, and adding new pages to my Waters Upton website.
Another photo from looking back at my Flickr albums, taken in September 2011. This Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel is on the alert, checking the hikers out for possible treats.

#SpringArrivalSpotlights are back, and weβre kicking off with Chiffchaffs!
Flitting back from Southern Europe & North Africa through March-April, their sweet 'chiff-chaff' song is the sound of spring.
Listen for them in parks and hedgerows.

Sick of hearing miserable wildlife news? Yes, us too.
What a delight to hear @savebutterflies.bsky.social declare Large Tortoiseshell is, for the first time in decades, a resident British breeding butterfly.

A Common Toad sits motionless in the grass, staring dead ahead with a grumpy, resigned expression. Its squat, unimpressed face perfectly captures the Monday mood...tired, unbothered, and just surviving.
