When we can plug a seismic sensor directly into power and cooms, it makes for a simple install and uninstall. This sensor is getting a little TLC, and was luckily easy to access, right on campus. It's featured on the bottom floor of the building in Fig 2 of this story: https://bit.ly/4hTtxIo

Are you prepared? | Alaska Earthquake Center In a state known for magnitude 8 and 9 earthquakes, it is easy to grow complacent about smaller earthquakes. However, moderate-to-strong earthquakes happening near cities and towns pose serious danger...

The correct answer today is to pull over and stop if it is safe, but stay inside your car. Try not to stop under trees, light posts, power lines, or signs. Avoid bridges, overpasses and tunnels. Learn more safety tips on our website earthquake.alaska.edu/prepare.

Sorry to hear you had trouble! Here's how to find a station on the map: in the map toolbar in the upper right, click on the "list" icon (horizontal lines). This opens an alphabetical station name list, then scroll or use "ctrl or cmd + F" (whatever "find" command your device uses) and type the name.

Today's answer is Taan Fjord. On October 17, 2015 the collapse of a mountainside near Tyndall Glacier into Taan Fjord after a period of heavy rains caused the giant wave of Icy Bay, with a run-up of 500 feet.
